The Lawrenceville School is located in central New Jersey, five miles south of Princeton, 55 miles south of New York City and 40 miles north of Philadelphia.  Lawrenceville has 17 dormitories, 10 classroom buildings, and 7 other support buildings on 700 acres in a rural setting.  

 

Leading this five-day camp for the 10th consecutive summer is Lawrenceville Head Softball Coach John Schiel. John's teams have won 3 New Jersey Prep A Division State Championships most recently back to back in 2002 and 2003.  John is in his 21st year as coach of the Big Red and was named 2002 Prep School “Coach of the Year” by both the Newark Star Ledger and the Trenton Times.

 

Athletes benefit from John’s experience as well as a veteran staff that last summer included the Ivy League Rookie of the Year and former Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year as well as various other current and former college players.    

Camp begins with a speed and agility clinic run by the staff of Lightning Fast Training Systems.  The Lightning Fast staff runs the Lawrenceville Strength and Conditioning Program and Duane Carlisle, the Executive Director of Lightning Fast was the speed consultant to the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL and left Lawrenceville to join the coaching staff of the San Francisco 49ers.  Lightning Fast has guided over 500 youngsters to Division I athletic scholarships.     

 

 

Campers workout and play on a newly built two field Softball Complex. Athletic facilities include the Edwin J. Lavino Field House (with basketball, tennis and volleyball courts; a 1/8 mile indoor track; indoor ice hockey rink; wrestling room; state of the art fitness center; and a six lane indoor swimming pool), a nine-hole golf course, squash courts, outdoor track, 14 interscholastic athletic fields, 16 tennis courts, a ten station fitness trail, a ropes course, and a crew boathouse.
