Wingate University is located 35 miles east of Charlotte, N.C. where athletics is an important part of the Wingate experience. One third of Wingate students compete in 17 NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports and even more participate in an extensive intramural program.

Directing the two weeks of NIKE Baseball Camp at Wingate is Head Baseball Coach Allen Osborne. Prior to coming to Wingate, Coach Osborne spent the 2007 season as an assistant coach at the University of Memphis where he was a hitting and catching instructor as well as third base coach.
Osborne has been involved with several successful baseball programs. He was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for three seasons at East Carolina University, another member of Conference
USA. The Pirates participated in NCAA post-season play each of his three seasons in Greenville. Coach Osborne spent three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Georgia, working with head coaches Ron Polk and David Perno. In 2001, Georgia won the Southeastern Conference championship and participated in the College World Series. In 2002, Osborne helped the Georgia Bulldogs qualify for back-to-back regionals for the first time in school history.
Allen enjoyed two stints at Georgia, as he served as a graduate assistant baseball coach for the Bulldogs for two seasons (1997, 1998). In between his two tours in Athens, Osborne was an assistant coach for one year at Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Fla. Chipola was 45-11 overall during the 1999 season. Fourteen of Chipola’s 16 sophomores had the opportunity to further their careers in baseball.
Lead instructor for the week is Assistant Coach Ben Hall. Ben enters his first season as assistant baseball coach at Wingate University. In the spring of 2007, Hall served as a student assistant coach at Clemson University. He worked with the hitters and the infielders. Clemson was 41-23 overall in 2007, advancing to the NCAA Division I Super Regional. The Tigers fielded at a .971 clip during the time Hall worked with the defense.
Hall started his career at Stetson University, where he hit .321 in 48 games and was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team. Hall transferred to Daytona Beach Community College where he hit .323 with five home runs. He was a second-team all-conference selection at DBCC. In addition, he was named to the athletic/academic honor roll.
