US Sports Camps proudly presents the Nike Junior Golf Camp at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. Regarded as one of the nation’s most beautiful campuses, the University is surrounded by spectacular scenery in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Young golfers will be equally dazzled with this setting.

CAMP DIRECTOR

A former collegiate All-American, professional player and national assistant coach of the year, Bowen Sargent will be entering his 6th season as head golf coach at the University of Virginia.  His efforts to return the Cavaliers' to the national spotlight have paid off as evidenced by their back-to-back trips to the NCAA Championships.  Coach Sargent's leadership was also recognized by his peers as they named him the state of Virginia Golf Coach of the Year in consectutive years.  Before becoming head coach at UVA, Sargent was an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee for 3 years where he helped to lead them to a top 12 national ranking.  He also counts the Jan Strickland National Assistant Coach of the Year award from May 2004 among his wide range of accomplishments.  Prior to his collegiate coaching career, Bowen was a professional golfer for nine years, where he recorded eight professional victories.  Bowen was also a two-time NCAA All-American honoree at North Carolina State, where he helped lead them to four NCAA championship finals.

BIRDWOOD GOLF COURSE
 
18 hole, par 72, very demanding and scenic golf course. Birdwood is perennially ranked by Golf Digest as one of the top ten university courses in the United States, and has earned Washington Golf Monthly’s  rating as one of the Mid-Atlantic’s top 100.
 
 
 

 









 
ACCOMMODATIONS
 

The campers are housed one per room in six room suites. The UVA dorms are air conditioned. The Nike Camp Staff lives in with the campers providing 24-hours supervision. Most meals are served at the UVA dining hall.


CAMP SPECIFICS
 
The Overnight fee includes all golf instruction, green fees, evening activities, housing and all meals.  The Extended Day fee includes all of the above except housing and breakfast.  Extended Day campers may participate in the evening activities.
 
Check-in will take place at the Gooch-Dillard Residence area from 1:00 - 2:30 pm on June 20th (session I) and June 25th (session II).  Graduation will take place at 2:00 pm on June 24th (session I) and June 29th (session II) at Birdwood GC.  Departure will follow from 2:30 - 3:00 pm.
 
TWO-WEEK CAMPERS
Campers participating in both weeks of camp at UVA can stay the additional night in-between session for a fee of $100.  That fee covers room & board and supervision. 
 
Campers arriving to the Charlottesville-Albermarle Airport are to secure their own transportation to and from the airport.  The aiport is approximately 10 miles away from campus.  Transportation services can be found at www.gocho.com.  The recommended arrival and departure times are from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm on the first day of camp and 4:00 - 7:00 pm on the last day of camp.
