Sacred Heart University provides campers with first-rate coaching and one of the finest athletic centers in New England.
All Skills instruction can be attended by girls, ages 10-18, playing at any skill level. Campers will master the fundamentals, develop proper mechanics and gain valuable game play experience.
Advanced instruction is recommended for girls ages 14-18 entering grades 9-12. This intense, challenging program stresses position play, advanced team techniques and physical conditioning. Campers will be expected to participate in a thorough skill evaluation on the first day and will be divided into groups by ability level.
Setter/Hitter position specialty training is for girls ages 10-18 who would like to get more intensive training on their specific setter or hitter position.
ATTENDING MULTIPLE SESSIONS OF CAMP: For campers who would like attend consecutive summer camp sessions, you are more than welcome to do so and it is encouraged if you are looking for the most comprehensive camp training. The camps all run back to back and there is no extra cost to stay over in between. Campers will have a few hours to rest at the end of each session before the next camp begins. Adult supervision will be provided during that time.
About the Director: Rob Machan enters his fourth year as the head volleyball coach at Sacred Heart University. Before coming to SHU, Coach Machan spent two years as an Assistant Coach at Azusa Pacific University where he helped guide the program to back to back NAIA Tournament appearances for the first time in school history. Prior to his position at Azusa Pacific, Coach Machan spent five seasons as an Assistant Coach at the University of Southern California under hall of fame coach, Mick Haley. At USC, his responsibilities included coaching and training blocking systems, coordinating the defense and serving strategy and was an assistant in recruiting. Coach Machan brings his 18-years of experience as a girls’ volleyball coach to campers this summer and is excited to share his expertise with young athletes.
All registered campers will receive a complete registration packet after they enroll in camp. This packet has specific details about your camp including confirmed check-in and check-out times, directions to campus, emergency phone numbers and a checklist of items to pack. Packets are usualy available around April 1st.
