Five-Star Cross Country Camp has found a truly five-star facility at
Iroquois Springs Camp in Rock Hill, NY. Camp is surrounded by miles of almost never traveled roads. We have a small lake on campus for boating and canoeing, two swimming pools, and a modern, quality field house. The modern cabins have knotty pine walls, ceiling fans, and hot showers. We hold activities, talks, and other programs in the field house and a giant tent. Campers will also be bused to the Minniwaska State Park for trail running.
Iroquois Springs is located about two minutes off of Exit 110 on Route 17, east of Monticello. It is a short ride to Stewart Airport in Newburgh and less than two hours from the major NY airports.

Dick Beardsley - He lost the 1982 Boston Marathon by two seconds to Alberto Salazar, but he's won the hearts of Five-Star Campers for many years. Those who saw the entire camp audience burst out of its seats to give "Beards" a standing ovation after a 2008 talk will never forget it. We welcome him back.
Bryan Kovalsky - A long time Five-Star Camper and counselor, Bryan moves to opening night this year. He was a standout runner at University of Pennsylvania and Iona and has experienced considerable marathon success after college. He teaches at Ridgefield (CT) High School.
Rob Murray - His Danbury (CT) High School cross country team was ranked #5 nationally in 2007 and twice qualified for NXN. The Hatters have won numerous State and New England titles and are one of the nation's premier distance running programs.
Tom Cuffe - Legendary Monsignor Farrell High School Coach
Richard Ruffalo - master motivator, author, educator, and internationally recognized athlete inspires a wide range of audiences everywhere. At age 32, he lost his eyesight but never lost his "vision." Ruffalo continues motivating every audience to a high level of inspiration while speaking to Fortune 500 companies, schools, and conventions. Ruffalo has won numerous honors and awards for his athletic ability. He is the winner of four different world titles in shot put, discus, javelin, and power lifting. He has earned 14 international gold medals, won 32 national titles, set 9 world and 15 national records, and has won 13 USA Track and Field K-2ster's State Titles against sighted competitors.
Camp Director Rich Furst• In 2009, Five-Star proudly announced Richard Furst as camp director following the tragic loss of legendary coach, Steve Lurie. "For me," say Furst, 29 year veteran coach, "it's never been about winning." He bring his coaching concept that "attitude is everything" to camp. He also believes that each team member, like each piece of a jigsaw puzzle, is important, no matter their personal record.
Furst began his collegiate running career at Clemson University on scholarship from 1968 to 1972. He quickly jumped into coaching in 1976 with the modified program at Warwick Valley High School and within 5 years became the head girls coach. His XC teams have won the Orange Country Championship 14 times including the last 11 consecutive years. The 2007 team holds the All-Time 1-5 average for the Bear Mountain 3-mile course at 18:22.8. His teams have qualified for the NY State Championship 17 times in the last 20 years. He has had at least one runner qualify for the State Meet every year since 1979. He has also coached two NYS Champions and one Footlocker National Champion.
With his positive attitude and motivational style, Five-Star eagerly awaits its second year under Coach Rich Furst.
