Returning Camp Director, Tom Mariano, enters his 11th season as the SHU Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach. Coach Mariano leads the Pioneers in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Men’s Lacrosse league. The CAA is considered one of the top conferences in the country and the Pioneers continue to play a top schedule. Prior to coming to Sacred Heart, Coach Mariano served as the Head Coach at Marist College for two seasons. As a player, he was a standout performer at Division III lacrosse power Nazareth College. While at Nazareth, he helped lead the Golden Flyers to the 1992 national championship. Tom is also involved with numerous lacrosse camps and clinics throughout the Northeast.

This summer marks the 7th Nike SHU Goalie Camp and last year's camp was a tremendous success. The Nike SHU Goalie Camp focuses on individual instruction, as well as video analyses of each goalie.
Co-directing the goalie school along with Coach Tom Mariano will be SHU's Assistant Coach JP Brazel. Coach Brazel came to SHU after spending the last season as an assistant on the Manhattan College staff. He worked primarily with the offense and goalies under Manhattan head coach Tim McIntee, helping the Jaspers to a 7-8 mark in 2007. Prior to his stop at Manhattan, Brazel served as an assistant coach at Nassau Community College from 2003 to 2006.
While at Nassau, Brazel led the development of the team's goaltenders and defensive units as well as working with the team's face-off specialists. In addition to on field coaching, Brazel assisted in the coordination of the team's recruiting efforts. He helped lead the school to the NJCAA Semifinals and Regional Championship in the 2003, 2004 and 2004 seasons.
Nassau was not only the location of the start of Brazel's coaching career but it also marked the beginning of his collegiate playing career as well. In 1999, Brazel earned All-American honors as a goaltender and helped Nassau to an NJCAA Championship title. He moved on to Hofstra University and while competing for the Pride, led them to two NCAA Tournament in 2000 and 2001.

You can never be too good of a shooter! Shooting is a skill that every player can improve on. The SHU Shooting Camp will give you the opportunity and instruction to become a much better shooter. SHU Shooting Camp focuses on individual instruction of the proper technique, as well as giving each shooter the opportunity to take hundreds of different shots on goalies.
