Adelphi University is located near Long Island's parks and beaches. The 75 acre campus is only 45 minutes from New York City, offering the combined advantages of a major metropolitan area and a safe, suburban campus environment.
Directing the camp will be Head Mens Lacrosse Coach, Gordon Purdie. Coach Purdie is in his third season at Adelphi. In just his first season, Coach Purdie was named ECC Coach of the year.
A graduate of Adelphi, Purdie was a two time All-American selection and helped lead the Panthers to two NCAA Division I Tournament appearances. He was inducted into the Adelphi Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995. His post collegiate career includes seven appearances with the Australian Lacrosse World Team and over 100 professional lacrosse games between 1990-2004, playing for the New York Saints, New Jersey Storm and Anaheim Storm.
Former Adelphi University assistant coach and current coach at Babson College, Josh Blumenthal will serve as co-director of this year’s summer camp. A 2003 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, he has coached at the Palmer Trinity School in Miami, where he led his team to a top-10 finish in South Florida in three of his four seasons. Blumenthal also served as associate head coach and offensive coordinator for the U19 Bermuda National Team in the summer of 2008.
Camp will take place daily at the Outdoor Sports Complex and Competition Field on the campus of Adelphi. The complex, opened in 2008, includes an all-weather surface material, four main light standards and hosts the Adelphi soccer, lacrosse and field hockey programs.
