Join us at Claremont Mckenna College this summer for a special three day tournament training camp designed for high school and tournament-level junior golfers. This golf-intensive program will focus on improving your results in competitive play and helping you reach the next level, be it finishing better in tournaments or moving up the ladder on your high school team.
Claremont McKenna College is a small liberal arts college annually recognized as one of the top ten small colleges in several key categories nationally, according to US News and World Report. The campus is located at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains approximately 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. Golf Digest recently recognized Claremont McKenna in its annual College Golf Guide which ranks colleges that have men's and women's golf teams. Claremont ranked first among Division III schools in two of the guide’s three rankings, making it one of the best schools in the country to play golf and receive a quality education.
The program starts on Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Following a brief orientation, the camp heads to nearby Empire Lakes Golf Club for a long, late afternoon session with Camp Director, Bim Jollymour, and his staff. Saturday involves an all-day session at Empire, with instruction in the morning followed by 18 holes with the staff. The camp ends on Sunday at 4:00 following a full day of instruction and course play. Over the three day period, Coach Jollymour and his staff will address all aspects of competitive play, including club and shot selection, course management, nutrition, mental toughness, and what it takes to play at the college level.
Campers live and eat most meals on the 50-acre campus of Claremont Mckenna just as if they were students of the school. The staff also lives onsite to provide 24-hour supervision.
CAMP DIRECTOR AND STAFF
Bim Jollymour enters his eighth season as CMC’s head men’s golf coach. A graduate of UCLA, Coach Jollymour grew up playing golf on the Southern California Junior Golf circuit and competed on the first golf team at Claremont High School. He has played in Southern California Golf Association and California Golf Association events for 30 years. In addition to coaching, Jollymour is a member of the Rules and Competition Committee of the Southern California Golf Association and Chairman of the Golf Committee at Red Hill Country Club.
Coach Jollymour is joined during the week by PGA members Michael Marcum and Tim Skophammer, and by Sunny Marcum, a member of the Korean LPGA. Current and former Claremont McKenna golfers round out the staff by serving as camp counselors.
EMPIRE LAKES GOLF CLUB
All golf activities take place at picturesque Empire Lakes Golf Course, designed by golf legend Arnold Palmer. Empire Lakes is just a short distance from Claremont McKenna college in nearby Rancho Cucamonga. The par 72 championship layout is the former home of the Mark Christopher Charity Classic, an annual stop on the Nationwide Tour. Camp Specifics
Check-in takes place on Friday at 2:00 pm on the Claremont McKenna campus and check-out takes place on Sunday at 4:00 pm. Roomates are 98% guaranteed and are assigned by gender and age.
The Overnight fee includes golf instruction, green fees, housing and all meals. The Extended Day fee includes all of the above except housing and breakfast. Day Campers may participate in the evening activities.
