Northwest Nazarene Head Men's Golf Coach, Craig Stensgaard, invites junior golfers to the heart of the Treasure Valley this summer for the first-ever Nike Golf Camp at NNU. 

 

For one week in June, junior golfers, ages 10 - 18, have an opportunity to improve their games under the watchful eye of coach Stensgaard and his staff.  Each day, the camp heads to nearby Hunter's Point Golf & Country Club for three hours of morning instruction.  Campers are grouped according to their age and ability, and rotate from station to station working on virtually every aspect of their game.   The camp takes a break for lunch and then heads out to the first tee on Hunter's Point's championship course for 9 to 18 holes each afternoon.  The staff is on hand to during course play to provide instruction under real playing conditions. On the last day, the camp concludes with a fun 9-hole tournament and brief graduation ceremony. 

 

Campers are housed two per room in dormitories on the campus of NNU.  The staff lives in the dorms with the campers to ensure safety and supervision.  Most meals are eaten in the dining commons and campers have access to the campus recreation center and common areas. 

 

Camp Director and Staff

Craig Stensgaard has spent the past nine years as the head men's golf coach, assistant athletic director and sports information director at Northwest Nazarene University.  Prior to that, Stensgaard worked in the golf industry as an assistant golf professional.  He earned his undergraduate degree at NNU and completed his graduate work in Athletic Administration at Idaho State University.  Craig also directs NBC Basketball camps at NNU. 

Coach Stensgaard is joined on staff during the Nike Camp by teaching professionals from the area and members of the NNU Men's Golf Team. 

 

Hunter's Point Golf & Country Club

Camp Specifics

The Overnight fee includes all golf instruction, green fees, evening activities, housing and all meals.  The Extended Day fee includes all of the above except housing and breakfast.  Extended Day campers may participate in the evening activities.
