Nike Golf Schools & Jr. Camps is proud to announce a new location in the great state of Tennessee.  Middle Tennessee State University and Head Men’s Golf Coach, Whit Turnbow, play host to one week of overnight camp this summer.  Participants reside on MTSU’s 466 acre campus, located just over a mile from downtown Murfreesboro.  Golf activities take place at nearby Champions Run Golf Course, a picturesque 6,900 layout designed by C. Stuart Moore. 

CAMP DIRECTOR
MTSU Head Coach, Whit Turnbow, led his Blue Raider golf team to new heights in 2007-08, his first season at the helm.  Turnbow, who played for MTSU and served as assistant coach for five years under Johnny Moore, was named the Sun Belt Coach of the Year and the Eaton Golf Pride Southeast Regional Coach of the Year for his efforts.  The Blue Raiders won a total of five tournaments and made their first ever appearance at the NCAA Division I National Championships, finishing in 15th place overall.   

 

As an assistant coach, Turnbow was nominated for the TaylorMade/Adidas National Assistant Coach of the Year Award in 2004.  As a player, he helped lead the Blue Raiders to the Ohio Valley Conference Championship in 2000.  Turnbow competed professionally for three years, was named the 2001 True Temper/TPGA Assistant Professional of the Year, and started the first junior program at the Fayetteville Golf Club.  He is also certified as a golf conditioning specialist by GMP Fitness.  

 

Coach Turnbow is joined on staff by local professionals and members of his current MTSU golf team.  

GOLF FACILITIES
Participants in the MTSU Nike junior overnight camp practice and play each day at Champions Run Golf Course, located approximately 10 miles from campus.  Champions Run boasts a 6,900 yard par 72 layout that meanders through beautiful hardwood trees in an idyllic Tennessee landscape.  The driving range features grass teeing space for fifty players and 30,000 square feet of pitching and putting greens.

CAMP SPECIFICS                                                                                                    Check-in takes place on campus Sunday between 1:00 - 2:30 pm.  Departure takes place at 1:00, following lunch and a brief graduation ceremony. Campers are housed two per room and roommate requests are almost always honored. 
 
The Overnight fee includes all golf instruction, green fees, evening activities, housing and meals.  The Extended Day fee includes all of the above except housing and breakfast.  Extended Day campers may participate in the evening activities.
