The 2009 USC Nike Winter Golf Camp is a program designed for high school and tournament level golfers aged 12-18 years. This one-of-a-kind school features instruction on all facets of the game from some of America’s top collegiate coaches.
With an approximate 5:1 student to teacher ratio, this program addresses all aspects of competitive play including practice routines, mental and physical preparation and the opportunities for college golf. The camp's home facility will be Ocotillo Golf Club in Chandler, Arizona. Campers also will have an unique opportunity to play a round at one of the famed Troon North Golf Courses! Campers are housed (2 per room) at the Holiday Inn at Ocotillo located adjacent to the golf course.
Camp begins on Saturday, December 19th at 1:00pm and ends on Wednesday the 23rd at approximately 12:00pm.
Camp Director and Staff
Camp Director, Chris Zambri, a former USC All-Pac-10 performer and longtime Nationwide Tour veteran, is in his third year as USC's men's golf head coach. After a highly successful 2007-2008 season, Zambri was named the 2008 GCAA National, the Pacific Region and the Pac-10 Coach of the Year. The honors came on the heels of a stellar campaign that saw USC finish just three strokes short of winning its first-ever NCAA title.
Co-Directing the camp with Chris is Josh Brewer, USC men's and women's golf assistant coach.
Assisting Chris and Josh will be other collegiate coaches from across the country (details to follow shortly).
CAMP SPECIFICS
The Overnight fee includes all golf instruction, green fees, evening activities, housing and all meals. The Extended Day fee includes all of the above except housing and breakfast. Extended Day campers may participate in the evening activities.
Check-in will take place on Saturday at 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at the Holiday Inn at Ocotillo. The graduation ceremony will take place at 12:30 pm on Wednesday at the golf course, check-out will follow from 1:00 - 1:30 pm. Roommates are guaranteed and requests are accepted for campers attending with friends. Linens are provided and rooms are air conditioned.
Campers need to bring their own golf clubs, two dozen golf balls, soft-spike golf shoes and golf gloves.
Campers arriving to Shy Harbor International Airport are asked to arrive between 11:00 - 2:00 pm on Saturday and have a departure time between 3:00 - 6:00 pm on Wednesday. Campers are responsible for making their own travel arrangements to and from the airport.
This special winter school is designed for High School and Tournament level juniors only.
