We are pleased to announce our fourth season at The University of North Texas. The campus which is located in Denton, offers a pretty, college-town atmosphere, but is only 40 minutes from Dallas and 25 minutes from the DFW airport.

The camp will use the Waranch Tennis Complex, a state of the art facility that was opened in January of 2006 featuring 12 tennis courts. Overnight campers will stay at Victory Hall, a brand new resident dormitory that is a short walk to the tennis courts. 

 

This year, in addition to its general programs (for all ability levels), UNT will offer two High School camps scheduled for July 25-29 and 8/1-8/5.  This program is designed for high school players looking to move up the ladder or make their high school team. 

tSujay Lama, UNT's head women's coach and 2010 Sun Belt Division Coach of the Year will direct this camp.  Lama who took over the reigns of the North Texas Tennis Program in June of 2006 won his first Sun Belt Championship this season and his girls team was recently ranked 62.  Lama came from The University of Illinois, where he was the Head women’s coach and a director at our Nike Tennis Camp at the University of Illinois. Lama, led the University of Illinois to five NCAA Tournament appearances over the last eight seasons.  In addition to leading the school to five NCAA Tournament appearances, his team ranked as high as No.16 in the nation in the spring of 2004. Lama, also has 15 years experience running tennis camps in the US, Europe and Asia and has coached top-20 professional players. 

This camp runs Sunday-Thursday. Check in for all campers is 1:30-3:00 pm Sunday and check out is at 3:30 pm on Thursday.

 

This camp is available for campers of all abilities.  After an evaluation session the first day of camp, campers are placed into groups based on their age and ability.  The camp focuses on instruction as well as match play, giving each camper a positive learning environment to enhance their skills and enjoy the game.
