Rutgers University Golf Course is one of the most popular public courses in New Jersey and it's a mere half mile from the suites where Nike campers are housed. Both sessions in 2010 are coed and open to ages 10-17. Players of all skill levels will have a great time at Nike Golf Camp at Rutgers University.
CAMP DIRECTOR
Maura Waters Ballard, Rutgers director of golf and women's golf coach, has directed this camp for over a decade. She has been a Scarlet Knights coach for the past 17 years. In 2005, Maura was named the Big East Men's "Golf Coach of the Year." Before becoming the coach of two successful college golf teams, Waters Ballard was a member of the Rutgers’ Women’s golf team where she was the first four-time team MVP. Waters has enjoyed a strong amateur career in the NY/NJ Metropolitan area. She won the 1986 Garden State Stroke Play Championship and the 1992 Women’s NJ State Amateur. After college, Waters played 2 years as a professional on the Futures Tour before beginning her coaching career at Rutgers.
GOLF FACILITY

The Rutgers University Golf Course was established in 1963 and plays to 6,400 yards from the back tees. Regarded as one of the most popular public courses in NJ, the course annually hosts the Rutgers University Men’s and Women’s Golf Invitational. In addition to the course, Rutgers has a newer 36 stall driving range, short game pitching and chipping area and practice putting green. A full-scale snack bar is available to the campers at all times and the pro shop is well stocked with golf accessories and Scarlet Knights memorabilia. ACCOMMODATIONS
Campers are housed in Rutgers three room, six person, air-conditioned suites and receive a daily 7:30 am wake-up call. Breakfast is served in the dining hall at 8:00 am and at 8:45, everyone takes a short ride (less than a mile) to the newly renovated driving range and short game facility. Nine o’clock to noon consists of instruction in full swing, putting, chipping, pitching and bunker play. Following lunch, the camp walks across the street to the golf course for afternoon course play. During their daily round, instructors and counselors are out on the course working with campers on course management and etiquette. After the round, it’s back to campus and dinner in the Busch Dining Hall. Evening activities start at 7:30 and, depending on the night, include movies, a rules and etiquette discussion and bowling. Lights are out by 10:30 pm.
The Overnight fee includes all golf instruction, green fees, housing and meals. The Extended Day fee includes all of the above except housing and breakfast. Extended Day campers may participate in the evening activities.
Overnight campers will check-in at the Busch Campus Suites from 2:30 - 3:30 pm on July 5th (Monday) or August 8th (Sunday). The graduation ceremony will take place on July 9th (Friday) or August 12th (Thursday) at 3:30 pm, parents are encouraged to attend. Departure will follow from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. Linens are NOT provided, campers must bring their own sheets, blankets, pillows and towels.
Campers arrive to Newark International Airport are to secure their own transportation to and from camp. The preferred arrival time is between 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. The preferred departure is from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
