What to Expect from a Mike Allen Nike Basketball Camp
When a player comes to a Mike Allen Nike Basketball Camp, they will experience much of the same advanced teaching and instruction as are offered at selection camps and NBA workouts, but broken down in a progressive form that every player can handle no matter their age or skill level. Players will participate in a daily film session to watch the teaching points and moves they have learned. The film sessions summarize the true purpose of the camp – to teach players how to train on their own! Camp Director and head camp trainer, Mike Allen takes a hands-on approach with all of the players and is present at all times during camp. The ratio of coaches to players will never exceed 10 players to 1 coach, but even that matters very little. Mike's innovative teaching techniques are designed to make every player feel like they are alone with him in the gym. 80% of the camp activity is drill work to improve triple threat, dribble triple threat, creating space with the dribble and out of the triple threat, NBA dribble moves, shot mechanics, intense shooting, moving without the ball, finishing, footwork to finish, motion, reading the defense, and decision making. 20% of the camp activity is game play. This is where the attendees can practice what they have learned in a game atmosphere. Games are 2 on 2, 3 on 3, 4 on 4 & 5 on 5.
Mike's Beach Workout
One day of camp (Wednesday) will include Mike’s Beach Workout for skill and athleticism. The players will spend the morning on the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for a grueling workout with an optional plunge in the ocean or spend time at the Boardwalk on rides and games at the end of the workout.
Player Reward Day at Great America Amusement Park
On the final day (Friday) Coach Mike will reward the players with all the hard work, determination and effort they put in during the week by taking them on a One day trip to GREAT AMERICA AMUSEMENT PARK. This will be a final bonding time for the players and will be a time of having fun and reflecting on what teams do after going through hard preparation to be GREAT!! “HARDWORK BRINGS CHANGE!!!”
Lunch is provided on Wednesdays & Fridays. Players need to bring their own lunch, snack and water bottle Monday, Tuesday & Thursday.
Transportation is not provided by the camp to or from any airports. If you are flying to or from camp, we recommend using an airport shuttle service. Please schedule flights as close as you can to the check-in times on the first day and check-out times on the last day.
A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact numbers, and a checklist of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers in the Spring. The US Sports Camps health and release forms do not require a doctor's signature and they will be collected on the first day of camp.
We cannot offer scholarships due to NCAA regulations. Our affiliation with NCAA coaches and schools puts us in a position where any scholarship money can be seen as an inducement to a future collegiate athlete. This puts our coaches and our host universities in jeopardy of damaging their status with the NCAA and incurring penalties at the hands of their organizing body.
If five or more campers register together, as a group by mail or fax, each camper will receive a $20 discount. If 10 or more campers register together, as a group by mail or fax, each camper will receive a $40 discount. Click "Get Brochure" above and print the application. All applications must be received at the same time via mail or fax. If all members of your group pay with a Visa or MasterCard, feel free to fax your applications to 415-479-6061 to expedite processing. Late or individual registrations are not eligible to receive the group discount.
