In his career he overcame injury after injury and continued to puruse his passion for the game. This passion has lead him to growing success as a coach and scout.

“I’ve always felt the game rises from the bottom up,’’ said Randy Livingston, the former LSU Tiger and 10-year NBA veteran who now oversees LivOn, a worldwide basketball enterprise headquartered in Hobart, Australia.

LivOn is an umbrella conglomerate overseeing several entities of the sport, including coaching and scouting.

“The whole idea,’’ Livingston says, “is to lift the game, and the better coaching we can develop on lower levels, the better the player later. We think it’s a win-win concept for the game of basketball.’’

Scott and business partners Hilton McManus and Randall Stewart co-founded the Back to Basics Basketball Academy.

Scott said he wants to show kids they can achieve their dreams.

"The only way I could show these kids what I want, is to open my own gym, he said.

McManus said boys and girls young and old are all working to help make dreams come true.

"Everyone is positive, talking and helping each other" McManus said. "The goal is to get these kids confidence not just in basketball but in life"

The positive attitudes come from children as young as 4 years old, and up to those preparing to head off to college.

Future University of Texas point guard Javan Felix said he consistently follows his practices at St. Augustine High School with a workout at Back to Basics.

"It's always open to us, anytime we want to come,? he said. "They have NBA goals, lines, regulation courts -- anything you could look for in a gym."

Former New Orleans Hornet, Carlos Wheeler is a coach at the academy and helps the eager players reach their goals by utilizing his experience.

More Important Camp Details

Meals

Lunch is not provided. Please bring a packed lunch or lunch money. A concession stand will be open for lunch, snack and drink purchases

Camper Evaluation

Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week. In addition, campers will be evaluated and then split up into smaller groups according to age and ability. Parents are invited to attend the closing ceremony!

Transportation

Transportation is not provided by the camp to or from any airports. If you are flying to or from camp, we recommend using an airport shuttle service. Please schedule flights as close as you can to the check-in times on the first day and check-out times on the last day.

Registration Packet

A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact numbers, and a checklist of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers in the Spring. The US Sports Camps health and release forms do not require a doctor's signature and they will be collected on the first day of camp.

Scholarships

We cannot offer scholarships due to NCAA regulations. Our affiliation with NCAA coaches and schools puts us in a position where any scholarship money can be seen as an inducement to a future collegiate athlete. This puts our coaches and our host universities in jeopardy of damaging their status with the NCAA and incurring penalties at the hands of their organizing body.

Group Discounts

If five or more campers register together, each camper is eligible for a $20 discount. If 10 or more campers register together, each camper is eligible for a $40 discount. Teams can register online or via mail/fax.

  • To register your team online: Please have a team contact reach out directly to the USSC office at 1-800-645-3226 to receive a discount code to identify your group. Campers may then register individually through the website at their convenience and apply the coupon code during check-out.
  • To register your team via mail/fax: Click "Get Brochure" above and print the application. All applications must be received at the same time via mail or fax. If all members of your group pay with a Visa or MasterCard, feel free to fax your applications to 415-479-6061 to expedite processing.
