US Sports Camps are excited to announce a new addition to our Nike Sports Camps family. Flagler Palm Coast High School will host a girls Point Guard and Post program from August 5-9, 2013. This camp is structured to offer point guards and post players the opportunity to improve their fundamentals and existing skills.

Shannon Murphy, Director of Player Training and Development at Three Point Hoops will lead this clinic along with former University of Alabama coach Lisa Wilson. Both coaches have extensive experience playing and teaching the game, they bring with them a qualified and enthusiastic coaching staff. Players of all levels are encouraged to attend this fun and challenging camp to help develop into stronger, more effective point guards and post players. 

This camp will teach advanced ball handling and passing techniques, how to generate scoring opportunities, and leadership skills. Additionally, daily video analysis of game situations and on-court implementation will expose players to new techniques and fundamentals. Any player looking to improve their point guard or post skills, Coaches Murphy and Wilson will help you acheive your goals and reach your full potential at this challenging and fun camp.

Flagler Palm Coast High School is a public co-ed school in Palm Coast, Florida 30 miles north of Daytona Beach off of I-95.

Camp Director

Shannon Murphy

Shannon Murphy, Director of Player Training and Development at Three Point Hoops, is originally from Brighton, Michigan and has been around the game for 20 years both playing and coaching. As a player, Murphy accomplished many impressive feats.

Murphy holds the assists and the 3 point shooting percentage record at her high school in Brighton, Michigan where she was All-Conference and All-State. Following high school, Murphy choose to play D1 basketball for Florida Gulf Coast University on a full ride scholarship. She was academic all-conference for four years at Gulf Coast graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and a minor in Advertising.
As a sophomore she was named Co-Captain and held that title for three years. Her team won two conference championships and played in the WNIT all four years.

During her career at Gulf Coast, they beat a number of BCS opponents including: USF, University of Florida, George Washington University, Virginia Tech, Montana University, Seton Hall University, and Indiana University. As a junior, she was Second Team All Conference and was a pre-season First Team All Conference Selection and affirmed with a First Team All-Conference Selection at season’s end. By the end of her college career, her record was100-25. Murphy is also a member of the 1000 Point Club at Florida Gulf Coast, is third in All-Time Scoring, and holds the school record for assists. As a senior, Murphy received the FGCU Athletic Department’s Most Outstanding Co-Female Student Athlete Award her senior year.

FGCU is the only Division I women’s basketball program to have qualified for post season play in each of its first four years of Division I competition with four trips to the WNIT. The team won the A-Sun Conference in Shannon's sophomore and senior years with second place finishes in the other two.  In Murphy's senior year, FGCU broke the NCAA Record for most 3's made in a single season. She started coaching as soon as she graduated and in her first year of coaching high school, alongside Coach Tom Kane, their team made it to the Elite Eight in 5A of the FHSAA.

Lisa Nuxol-Wilson

Lisa Nuxol-Wilson has over 16 years of coaching experience. She most recently coached at the University of Alabama and chose to leave the college coaching ranks shortly after having her first child and moving back to the Orlando area.

Since her college coaching days, she has been a national evaluator for the Blue Star Basketball recruiting service and has run exposure events in the state of Florida for Blue Star, including the Rising Blue Star Evaluation Camp and Unsigned Senior Showcases. Coach Nuxol-Wilson's strengths lie in her knowledge of the game, passion for player development and skill evaluation.

Coach Nuxol-Wilson has coached both guards and posts on the college level and has developed several All-Conference players. She has also helped several high school and junior college players go on to play at the next level. Lisa will be working with us in Florida and will be instrumental with our programs in South Florida, both East Coast and West Coast.

Point Guard Clinic: This camp is specficially geared for point guards or perimeter players looking to become stronger and more effective on the court. Campers will learn advanced passing and ball handling techniques and discover new ways of creating scoring opportunites for their team. Each day will begin with short classroom sessions where campers will learn concepts from our qualified coaching staff and then have the opportunity to put those concepts into action on the court.

Post Clinic: This camp will teach all players seven great post moves, how to control the "trenches," and how to get in position to get possession, giving players the principles needed to play this dominating position.  Positioning, leverage and the specific how to's will be covered. This session is excellent for post players as well as guards and forwards who want to lean how to be deadly in the paint!

Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week. In addition, campers will be evaluated and then split up into smaller groups according to age and ability.

Check-in: Monday, August 5 at 8:15AM
Awards Ceremony: Friday, August 9 at 3:30PM. Departure immediately following the ceremony at 4PM. Parents are invited to attend!

Camp Information
Lunch will not be provided, please bring your own lunch.
Campers should wear comfortable clothing i.e. shorts, t-shirt, and sneakers.
 
Registration Packet
A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact numbers, and a checklist of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers in the Spring. The US Sports Camps health and release forms do not require a doctor's signature and they will be collected on the first day of camp.
