Massachusetts Tennis Camps

Amherst College - Amherst, Massachusetts

The Amherst Tennis Camp has hosted over 30,000 adult tennis players since 1972. They come to the beautiful campus of Amherst College to get better, make friends, have fun and immerse themselves in the game for 2-5 days.

Indicative of the quality of the camp’s on and off court programs, over 45% of Amherst participants each year are past campers and their friends…an extraordinarily high percentage for this type of program.

The Amherst Tennis Camp is conveniently located in the town of Amherst in the Pioneer Valley of western Massachusetts. Amherst is 90 miles west of Boston and 165 miles north of New York City. The lovely and historic town of Amherst is adjacent to the campus.

Amherst is a classic New England college campus. Campers live in brand new adult dorms. Participants may choose a single (no extra charge) or double room and groups can be assigned rooms together. The air-conditioned Amherst dining hall offers excellent food.

Alternative accommodations can be arranged at nearby Inns and Bed & Breakfasts.

The Amherst Tennis Complex is one of the finest in the country, offering 22 hard courts and five Har-Tru (green clay). New indoor courts are available on campus, supplemented by nearby indoor facilities.

Campers have the opportunity to use Amherst College athletic facilities including fitness room, Amherst golf course and enjoy the many nature trails and bike paths near the campus.

Quality instruction and personal attention to each camper’s specific needs are hallmarks of The Amherst Tennis Camp. The Camp Director, Reiny Maier is one of the most renowned adult tennis camp directors in the country. He returns to the Amherst Tennis Camp for his 33rd year and has given players a whole new outlook on tennis. He becomes involved in the game of each player, offering his knowledge, enthusiasm, patience and encouragement.

The Assistant Director is Maureen Rankine, a member of the teaching staff of the Amherst Tennis Camp for 23 summers and the Assistant Director for the past 15 years. She looks forward to coming to Amherst each summer and sharing her vast knowledge and understanding of the game with each camper.

Reiny and Maureen carefully select and train their staff. Each participant will receive, in addition to the group instruction, private lessons from this very experienced staff.
