Camp Director
Katie Lange
Katie Lange needs just five conference wins to become the school's all-time leader in Capital Athletic Conference victories as Lange embarks on her fourth season at the helm of the Seahawk field hockey program. She enters the 2011 season with a 13-6 career mark in league action with former skipper Megan Block (2003-07) holding the record at 17 wins.
Read Full BioLange is also second in all-time wins (27) and overall win percentage (.540) while posting the best win percentage in conference games with .684. She has coached three Seahawks to four all-region accolades as well as five players to eight All-CAC awards.
Last season, the Seahawks advanced to the conference semifinals for the seventh time in the 17-year history of the program while finishing as the No. 2 seed for just the third time. St. Mary's posted an 11-6 (6-1 CAC) overall record and received the program's first-ever national ranking after starting the season with a 6-0 mark.
The Seahawks finished .500 in 2009, falling in overtime to Wesley College in the CAC First Round. Lange led Allie Skiest '11 and Julia Puzak '10 to All-CAC accolades while Lauriann Parker was named the CAC Rookie of the Year and picked up all-region honors as well.
In 2008, she guided her team to the program's second appearance in the CAC championship game while mentoring three All-CAC honorees as well as the CAC Co-Player of the Year (Emily Smithson '09).
Prior to St. Mary's, Lange spent the 2007-08 academic year as the assistant coach in both field hockey and women's lacrosse at Gettysburg College. While at Gettysburg, she helped mentor a pair of Centennial Conference title contenders and nationally ranked teams. Lange assisted the field hockey team in reaching the league tournament and a ranking of No. 19. She then helped the lacrosse team to an appearance in the NCAA Tournament as well as a No. 2 national ranking.
A 2006 graduate of St. Mary's, Lange earned eight varsity letters with the field hockey and lacrosse teams. She appeared in all but two games during her four-year field hockey career, tallying 19 points (7g, 5a) and helping the program improve from a 6-11 mark in 2002 to a 12-5 record as a senior. Langemade an impact in the spring as well for the nationally ranked lacrosse team as the Seahawks won over 70% of their contests during her career, earning first-team All-CAC honors in 2006.
