Frank Tristan

For the first time in 12 years, Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) football team has a new head coach.  Current offensive coordinator Frank Tristan has taken over the reins of SAGU football.  The announcement was made after Athletic Director Jesse Godding stepped down as Head Football Coach to focus only on the administrative position.

Tristan has led the SAGU offense for the past three seasons, as well as coaching the offensive line in 2007.  Tristan is excited for the opportunity to lead the Lions, “I feel like this job is the best of both worlds.  I love coaching the game of football, but ultimately I want to train young men to be strong Christians, good dads and husbands and future leaders.

Tristan came to SAGU from Kickapoo High School in Springfield, Missouri.  At Kickapoo, Tristan was the defensive coordinator for the Chiefs.  He’s also spent time at Hillcrest High School and Evangel University, also in Springfield.

Godding believes Tristan was an ideal candidate for the job, “What will make Coach Tristan a success is his love for God, love for SAGU, and desire to build relationships with players that result in life-long changes for the young men he coaches.  I am confident that the football program at SAGU is in very capable hands and will thrive with Frank at the helm.”

As a defensive end at Evangel University, Tristan was a two-time Heart of America all-conference player.  His senior year he was named as an Honorable Mention All-American.  In his junior season, he helped to lead the Crusaders to an 11-1 record.  Tristan was a four-year letterman in football and baseball for Evangel.

Camp Details

Contact Football Camps feature full contact drills and scrimmages with a staff of major college coaches and players. At camps "contact" is introduced in a slow, gradual progression before any actual "contact" is initiated. Campers are divided according to age, weight and ability.

The instruction (3 times a day) stresses both individual positions and team play with every camper. Thousands of our previous football campers played, or are now playing college football (many at schools represented by our coaching staff).

I Learned A lot

I had a great time! I played the offensive and defensive positions that I wanted. Thank you! The coaches seemed tough at first, but in the end I learned so much. I really appreciate the time the coaches spent with me! I met new friends who will be coming back next year and so will I.

After This Camp I Can't Wait Until Football Season Starts

This was my first overnight camp and I could not stop talking about it when I returned home. My love for the game was only reinforced when I had the opportunity to attend this camp. I felt that my skill level was increased and cannot wait until the football season starts to show others what I learned and also what they could learn by attending this wonderful camp. I look forward to next season.
