US Sports Camps is proud to offer Nike Golf Schools & Junior Camps at D. Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course in Bridgeport, CT. This facility offers two eighteen hole courses that boast fairways which are generous, and greens that are exceptional. The terrain ranges from flat to hilly with creeks flowing throughout the entire layout.
Our programs at Fairchild Wheeler are designed for boys and girls between the ages of 9-17. The teaching staff, lead by Camp Director Randy Taylor, is on hand to provide campers with top quality instruction each day. At Nike Golf Schools & Junior Camps we accommodate all skill levels; the junior player just discovering the game to the high school player trying to move up on the team.
The camps run Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m (some camp sessions run Monday - Thursday - see below). Under the watchful eye of the instructional staff, every morning for three hours, the campers practice all aspects of their games- putting, chipping, bunker play and full-swing. Morning instruction is followed by lunch and then 9-holes with on-course instruction. The camp has a low camper per instructor ratio of approximately 6:1.

Camp Director
Randy Taylor
Randy Taylor, 29, was born and raised in nearby Bridgeport, CT. He is currently in his fourth season as director of instruction for Nike Golf Schools at D. Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course. Randy is now in his 8th season as program director for the First Tee at Fairchild Wheeler. This is also his first year as the site director for the LPGA Girls National program.
He began his professional career as an assistant golf professional running special corporate events and junior golf schools at both Fishers Island in Miami, FL and Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield, CT. He also assisted in the day-to-day operations during the 2003 US Girls Championship. In addition to his responsibilities at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course, he is currently head coach for the Club Golf Team at Sacred Heart University as well as the assistant coach for the Men's and Women's Division I golf team. He helped lead his Men's team to a 2011 Northeast Division 1 title at Champion Gates Golf Course in Orlando, FL
Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week.
Sample Daily Schedule
- 9:00am Instruction - practice on skills and fundamentals; grip, stance, posture, pitching, putting, bunker play and full swing
- Noon Lunch
- 1:00pm Course play with staff. On-course instruction on club selection, course management, rules and etiquette
- 4:00pm Campers depart
- A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact info, and a list of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers in the Spring.
