Nike Golf Schools & Junior Camps, Furman University Greenville, South Carolina
Junior golfers of all experience levels are invited to spend a week at Nike Golf Schools & Junior Camps at Furman University in Greenville, SC. Camp Co-Directors, Todd Satterfield and Jen Hanna, are on hand to provide the very best in golf instruction.
All instruction takes place at the REK Center for Intercollegiate Golf. Coach Satterfield and Hanna cover all facets of the game from pitching, putting, bunker play and the full-swing, to course management, preparation and rules & etiquette. The staff is also on course with the kids to provide instruction under normal playing conditions. Seminars are conducted throughout the week on a variety of golf-related topics. The 18-hole tournament on the last day gives participants an opportunity to apply their new knowledge and skills in a fun setting.

REK Center
Daily instruction and practice takes place at the REK Center for Intercollegiate Golf. Opened in 1997, this state-of-the-art practice facility features two large practice tees, covered driving range, 14,000 square-foot bent grass putting green, Bermuda practice green for chipping, pitching and bunker play, and greenside and fairway practice bunkers. Course play will take place at a number of area courses including a local par-3 course which is frequently used by the Furman University golf teams to sharpen their iron and short-game skills.

Todd Satterfield
Todd Satterfield has guided the Furman men’s golf program to national prominence during his tenure as head coach. Coach Satterfield has been named Southern Conference Coach of the Year three times (1997, 2002, 2004) as well as Furman University Coach of the Year in 1997. Prior to coaching, Satterfield was a standout on the University of Georgia golf team and later a successful touring professional.

Jen Hanna
Jen Hanna took over the reins at Furman in 2005 from long-time Furman Coach, Mic Potter. Hanna represented a perfect selection to replace Potter, given her standout four-year career as a Lady Palidin. While at Furman, Hanna was named a National Golf Coaches Association 'First-Team All American' and elected to the Furman Athletic Hall of Fame. In her senior season, Hanna was also named Furman Female Athlete of the Year. Following her college career, Hanna found success at the highest level of female golf, the LPGA, where she has three top ten finishes to her credit.
Read Full BioDuring her short tenure as the women's coach at Furman, Hanna has already been named the SoCon coach of the year twice (2008, 2009) and the Furman female coach of the year (2008). Along with an impressive playing and coaching resume, Coach Hanna has given back to the game of golf in an effort to make golf more accessible to young girls. She is the current spokeswoman for the LPGA/USGA Girls Club and in that role has conducted more than 30 clinics for girls ages 7 to 17 at stops around the United States. Her efforts led to her receiving the LPGA Budget Service Award in 2003.
Nike camp staffs are generally comprised of other teaching and touring professionals, college coaches, renowned high school coaches and former/current college players who serve as camp counselors.
Campers are housed on the Furman campus in air-conditioned dorms within walking distance of everything. Meals are provided in the Furman Dining Hall, which offers a variety of ethnic and dietary choices, and the Student Center is available for relaxing during breaks from the golf curriculum.
Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week.
Sample Daily Schedule
- 7:00am Wake-up/breakfast
- 8:00am Skills demonstrations conducted by camp staff
- 8:30-11:30am Instruction - campers rotate through stations working on putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play and full-swing
- Noon Lunch/free-time
- 1:00-5:00pm Course play - instruction provided by staff on course management, shot/club selection, rules and etiquette
- 6:00pm Dinner, free-time, seminars, guest speakers
- 7:30-9:30pm Evening activities (movie night, golf games, bowling etc.)
- 10:00pm Lights out
- The Overnight fee includes all golf instruction, green fees, evening activities, housing and all meals.
- The Extended Day fee includes all of the above except housing and breakfast. Extended Day campers may participate in the evening activities.
- Check-in will take place from 4:00-6:00pm at Ramsey Hall on Saturday. Check-out will take place on Wednesday between 3:00 - 3:30 p.m. at the Furman Golf Course after the camp tournament. Friends and familiy are invited to watch the tournament and join the campers after the round for a delicious cookout!
- Campers arriving to the Greenville/Spartanburg Airport are to arrange for their own transportation to and from the golf course. The recommended arrival and departure times are from 11:00 am - 1:30 pm on Saturday and after 6:00 pm on Wednesday.
- Campers are supervised 24 hours a day. The staff lives in the dormitories/resort accommodations with the campers and participates in evening activities. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited, and constitute, along with general misconduct, grounds for dismissal from camp without a refund.
- A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact info, and a list of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers in the Spring.
