These camps are an excellent opportunity for junior golfers (ages 9-15) to improve their skills and their course management at the same time. Each morning begins with three hours of instruction which covers all facets of the game and prepares the junior player for the challenges of the course. Our Half Day camps are designed to create interest and foster development in beginners and intermediate golfers (ages 7-13). The camps run Monday-Thursday and include 16 hours of instruction. Strong emphasis is placed on the fundamentals-stance, grip, posture, full swing, rules and etiquette, etc. As the week unfolds, campers receive quality short-game instruction and by the end of camp, each Nike junior golfer will see improvement in their golf game.
Designed for players (ages 10-17) who play competitive golf or who are looking to start playing competitively, our Advanced Golf School takes the camp experience to the next level. Players receive individualized instruction with a low 4:1 student to teacher ratio. Emphasis is on short game instruction, tournament preparation, course management techniques, club fitting, and full swing video instruction. Trish Hinze started the Nike Golf Junior Camps at Tilden Park in 1999 and they have grown to over 300 campers per summer. She has been teaching golf to adults and juniors of all levels for over 20 years and started playing golf herself at the age of 8. The Bay Area Golf Learning Center programs at Tilden, which have group and private lesson instruction for all players and ages, were started under her direction in 1998. As a result, Tilden Park has become known as the place to learn how to play golf.
The main reason for the growth and positive reputation of Tilden's camps is due to the teaching staff. The majority of the instructors are PGA and teaching professionals who have taught the summer camps at Tilden for 4-10 years. Besides having fun in the camps, the juniors will come away with a greatly improved game due to the instructors' enthusiasm and commitment to their students.
