2014 marks the third year of Nike Junior Golf Camps in Birmingham, AL. Samford University Women's Head Coach, Rachel Ingram, and Berry College Head Coach, Brian Farrer, are excited to offer a week of great golf and fun at Samford University.
Nike junior golfers are housed in double rooms on campus and have their meals in the dining halls, giving each camper a glimpse of the college life. Golf instruction takes place at Hoover Country Club a few minutes south of campus which is a perfect environment to improve your game. Each day consists of breakfast, morning range instruction, lunch, afternoon course play, dinner, and evening activities.
The Day Camp option runs from 8:30am - 5:00pm each day. This includes all golf instruction, lunch, and afternoon course play with the staff.

Hoover Country Club
Hoover Country Club is a private, member owned and operated Club located in the Green Valley-Star Lake area, where the rolling wooded landscape is made even more picturesque by peacefully meandering fairways of lush green grass and smooth, challenging greens. It is suitable for all levels of golfers with four sets of teeboxes to accommodate different handicaps and abilities. The golf course features open fairways and a creek that flows through it, coming into play on several holes. Hoover Country Club also features nice practice facilities such as a putting green and chipping area, which make it ideal for hosting a Nike Junior Golf Camp!Meet your coaching staff
Rachel Ingram is in the midst of her first season as the head women’s golf coach at Samford University. On Aug. 26, 2013, she was officially named to the position after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at East Tennessee State University. In 2013, Ingram played a pivotal role in leading East Tennessee State to the Atlantic Sun Conference championship title. For the second time in program history, ETSU captured the conference championship in 2013 thanks to a tournament total of 880, holding off defending champion Kennesaw State on the final day of competition at the Jekyll Island Golf Club’s Pine Lakes Course.Read Full Bio
As a graduate of the University of Mississippi in May of 2010, Ingram received four varsity letters as a member of the women's golf team. Ingram's college career low was 71 at the Derby Intercollegiate (Auburn University) in 2008. This personal best in the final round helped the Lady Rebels get their third straight, top-five finish. Her best individual finish was a 228 to place 14th at the Chrysler ACC/ SEC Challenge (Florida State University) in 2005.
An outstanding golfer, Ingram continues to compete at a high level and has earned top-25 finishes in summer amateur tournaments which include the following: Women's Southern Amateur '06; Women's Western Amateur '06; Golf Capital of TN Women's Open '09; and TN State Amateur '10.
Brian Farrer enters his 10th season as head golf coach at Berry College. He has had a successful run as the head coach of the Vikings, as the team has never dropped out of the top-25 since he began coaching. Prior to becoming the head coach, Farrer spent a year as Scott Pierce's assistant with the Vikings, working with a team that placed second in the NAIA. In that role, Farrer helped lead the Vikings to their second straight national runner-up finish.Read Full Bio
Coach Farrer is excited to be directing the NIke Camp at Samford alongside Coach Ingram in addition to his NIke Camps at Berry College and Georgia Southern.
Coaches Ingram and Farrer will be assisted by other teaching professionals from Hoover Country Club and current Samford University varsity players.
Nike Golf Camp provides young golfers with the tools to enjoy this great game for a lifetime. Our curriculum is the perfect blend of expert instruction, course play and fun off-course activities. With dedicated coaches in Rachel Ingram and Brian Farrer, each Nike camper can leave at the end of the week feeling more confident about their game. Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week.
Check-In and Check-Out
Check-in occurs from 1:00-2:30pm on Sunday, July 20th. Check-out from 12:30 - 1:00pm on Thursday, July 24th.
The Overnight fee includes all golf instruction, green fees, evening activities, housing and meals. The Day Camp option includes all golf instruction, lunch, and course play. Day campers will be dropped off and picked up at the golf course each day.
Campers are supervised 24 hours a day. The staff lives in the dormitories with the campers and participates in evening activities. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited, and constitute, along with general misconduct, grounds for dismissal from camp without a refund.
Nike Golf Schools and Jr. Camps does not provide transportation to and from airports, bus depots or train stations. The packet we send to registered campers in the spring offers suggestions on shuttle services for each specific camp.
A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact info, and a list of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers in the Spring.

- 7:30am Wake-up and breakfast
- 8:15am Depart to Hoover Country Club
- 8:45am Skills demonstrations
- 9:00am - Noon Small group instruction focusing on putting, chipping, pitching and full-swing
- Noon Lunch and relaxation
- 12:45 - 5:00pm Course play with focus on shot selection, course management, rules and etiquette
- 6:00pm Dinner at Samford
- 7:00 - 9:00pm Evening activities
- 10:15pm Lights out
