2015 marks the fourth year of Nike Golf Camps in Birmingham, AL. Samford University Women's Head Coach, Rachel Ingram, and Birmingham Southern Head Coach, Jason DeJiacomo, are excited to offer a week of golf instruction and fun this summer!

Overnight Camp

Nike junior golfers are housed in double rooms on campus and have their meals in the dining halls, giving each camper a glimpse of the college life. Golf instruction takes place at Highland Park Golf Course (rated 4 stars by Golf Digest) which is a perfect environment to improve your game. Each day consists of breakfast, morning range instruction, lunch, afternoon course play, dinner, and evening activities.  

Day Camp

The Day Camp option runs from 8:30am - 5:00pm each day. This includes all golf instruction, lunch, and afternoon course play with the staff.

  • Small group instruction from Division I college coaches, teaching professionals and college players

Rachel Ingram

Rachel Ingram enters her second season as the head women’s golf coach at Samford University. On Aug. 26, 2013, she was officially named to the position after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at East Tennessee State University.

 In 2013, Ingram played a pivotal role in leading East Tennessee State to the Atlantic Sun Conference championship title. For the second time in program history, ETSU captured the conference championship in 2013 thanks to a tournament total of 880, holding off defending champion Kennesaw State on the final day of competition at the Jekyll Island Golf Club’s Pine Lakes Course.

As a graduate of the University of Mississippi in May of 2010, Ingram received four varsity letters as a member of the women's golf team. Ingram's college career low was 71 at the Derby Intercollegiate (Auburn University) in 2008. This personal best in the final round helped the Lady Rebels get their third straight, top-five finish. Her best individual finish was a 228 to place 14th at the Chrysler ACC/ SEC Challenge (Florida State University) in 2005.

An outstanding golfer, Ingram continues to compete at a high level and has earned top-25 finishes in summer amateur tournaments which include the following:  Women's Southern Amateur '06; Women's Western Amateur '06; Golf Capital of TN Women's Open '09; and TN State Amateur '10.

Jason DeJiacomo

Jason DeJiacomo is entering his first season as the Head Golf Coach for both the men's and women's golf teams after being hired as the men's golf coach in June of 2013.   .

DeJiacomo came to BSC after spending two years as the Assistant Coach for Berry College's men's and women's golf programs. He played an instrumental role in recruiting, practice/game management, and player management. In those two years, Berry College's men's golf team jumped over 50 spots in the GolfStat rankings to finish the 2012 season ranked 12th in Division III. DeJiacomo also helped the women's team improve to a top-35 ranking. Before that he spent three years bouncing around many professional golf tours and teaching golf lessons.

Camp Details

Our curriculum is the perfect blend of expert instruction, course play and off-course activities.  With dedicated coaches in Rachel Ingram and Jason DeJiacomo, each Nike camper can leave at the end of the week feeling more confident about their game. Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week.

Check-In and Check-Out

Check-in occurs from 1:00-2:30pm on Sunday, June 28th. Check-out from 12:30 - 1:00pm on Thursday, July 2nd.

Program Options

The Overnight fee includes all golf instruction, green fees, evening activities, housing and meals. The Day Camp option includes all golf instruction, lunch, and course play. Day campers will be dropped off and picked up at the golf course each day.

Supervision

Campers are supervised 24 hours a day. The staff lives in the dormitories with the campers and participates in evening activities. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited, and constitute, along with general misconduct, grounds for dismissal from camp without a refund.

Transportation

Nike Golf Schools and Jr. Camps does not provide transportation to and from airports, bus depots or train stations. The packet we send to registered campers in the spring offers suggestions on shuttle services for each specific camp.

Registration Packet

A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact info, and a list of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers in the Spring.

Facilities

Highland Park Golf Course

Alabama's Highland Park Golf Course was originally established in 1903 as the Country Club of Birmingham, making it the oldest golf course in Alabama. Highland Park has been the site of many important golf events including one of renowned golfer Bobby Jones’s first victories. The Highland Park facilities - golf course, adjoining tennis club, clubhouse facilities, etc. - are all located in the heart of one of Birmingham's favorite neighborhoods. Highland Park was rated 4 stars by Golf Digest, and "Best Greens" and "Best Public Course" in Birmingham by Birmingham Magazine.

Sample Daily Schedule

  • 7:30am Wake-up and breakfast
  • 8:15am Depart to Highland Park GC
  • 8:45am Skills demonstrations
  • 9:00am - Noon Small group instruction focusing on putting, chipping, pitching and full-swing
  • Noon Lunch and relaxation
  • 12:45 - 5:00pm Course play with focus on shot selection, course management, rules and etiquette
  • 6:00pm Dinner at Samford
  • 7:00 - 9:00pm Evening activities
  • 10:15pm Lights out
