NIKE Baseball Camp Director Named Orioles’ EVP

Dan Duquette Orioles3 4Lf2

January 6, 2012

SAN RAFAEL, CA – Nike Baseball Camp director, Dan Duquette was officially named the Orioles' Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations in November. Duquette brings more than twenty years of experience and is eager to turn around the organization around after 14 consecutive losing seasons.

Duquette served as farm director for the Expos from 1987-91 and as their general manager from 1991-94, when he was hired as to be Boston's GM.  Duquette is respected internationally for his ability to assemble and lead a dynamic sports organization.  He has been recognized as a key member of the top baseball organization six times and has been honored twice as the Executive of the Year.

He realizes this task is tough and said in an MLB news conference, "When you don't have the resources that the top two clubs have, you have to work harder and you have to work smarter. You have to do a better job in scouting and player development."

Duquette is ready tol immediately implement his plans which includes  looking internationally and using his previous contacts from the Expos and Red Sox in Latin America and Asia.

He is ready for the challenge and looks forward to the work that goes along with it.

"This is right up my alley, turning around a ballclub and building a farm and scouting system," said Duquette. "This is what I love to do. This is a great opportunity. I'm thankful for it, and I'm ready to go to work."

As he tackles this task he is also preparing to make this year’s Nike Camp at Dan Duquette Sports Academy a success. He continues to work on the daily schedule, create new drills, and train an elite staff.
