NIKE Baseball Camps Gives Back To Children With The Keith Saulsberry Memorial Baseball Camp
The Keith Saulsberry Memorial Baseball Camp was established in remembrance of former college baseball player Keith Saulsberry who was killed during his time as a young athlete. Portions of the camp profit will be donated to the "KEITH SAULSBERRY JR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND" which was started by both his mother and church in remembrance of him.
San Rafael, CA (PR WEB) May 18, 2012 – NIKE Baseball Camps is pleased to announce the Keith Saulsberry Memorial Baseball Camp, its first ever pro bono camp. This camp will run July 26-29 in Memphis, TN.
NIKE Baseball Camps teamed up with the Keith Saulsberry Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund as a way to fulfill the company’s mission, to shape a lifelong enjoyment of athletics through high quality sports education and skill enhancement. Nike Camp Director Markell Cox generated this idea as he introduced NIKE Baseball Camps to the fund. The camp provides under privileged children the opportunity to learn proper baseball skills and be surrounded by influential coaches.
Keith Saulsberry was killed during his time as a young athlete. A Fairly High School graduate, Keith was a role model both on and off the field. He was also a college teammate of Nike Camp Director Markell Cox. Saulsberry and Cox both pitched at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff were they became close friends.
Coach Cox wants Keith to be remembered for the positive and caring person that he was. Coach Cox stated, “We believe in the uplifting of our youth through positive avenues such as sports. I was fortunate to know Keith and he definitely had an impact on my life as well my vision. Throughout this camp I will help implement his vision of helping children succeed in life as well as providing positive role models for the campers to look up to."
