No. 2 Salisbury University hoist the title trophy for second-consecutive year with 9-6 victory over No. 3 Trinity College

San Rafael, CA - Nike Lacrosse Camp Director and Salisbury University Head Coach, Jim Nestor has led the women's lacrosse team to the 2014 NCAA Division III national championship. Meeting up with Trinity for the third-straight season in the title game, the Sea Gulls took control after the first whistle and never looked back, downing the Bantams, 9-6. Nestor mentioned in the postgame press conference after the semifinal victory over Amherst that his team was gelling at the right time.

The Sea Gulls (23-1) proved just that throughout the entirety of Sunday's game. The defense, as a unit, only allowed six shots, two on goal, for the first half, which kept the Bantams off the board going into the break. "I think we played a great first half and the defense was spectacular," Nestor said. "We really played well." The 2014 title is third in program history (2010, '13) and Salisbury University's 18th team championship.

In his 13 seasons as head coach, Nestor holds a remarkable .898 winning percentage (221-25). His overall women's lacrosse coaching record is 300-66-1 (.817) in 20 seasons. Originally from Laurel, Md., Nestor received his bachelor's degree in physical education from Salisbury in 1990. He was a four-year letterman on the Sea Gull lacrosse and wrestling teams during his collegiate career.

“Nike Lacrosse Camps is proud to partner with Coach Nestor and Salisbury University” Paul Merrion, Vice President of US Sports Camps, stated. “Coach Nestor and his staff run a tremendous camp each year and we are looking forward to his camp in June.”
