Nike Rugby Camps and Cal Women’s Rugby to Offer High School Girls Camp in June
Cal Women’s Rugby Coach, Mari Triplett, brings two-day rugby camp to Cal this summer.
May 19, 2016 – Nike Rugby Camps recently announced teaming up with Cal Women’s Rugby for a new camp in Berkeley this summer. High School girls are invited to take part in a two-day collegiate rugby experience aimed at improving fundamentals and overall game strategy. Mari Triplett, former national team player and Cal Bears coach, is excited to offer a top-tier instructional experience for girls in the Bay Area.
“It’s an undeniably exciting time for rugby in the US, as the opportunities for players of all ages are continuing to expand. Cal Women’s Rugby is dedicated to being a part of this momentum,” stated Coach Triplett. “Our summer camp offers high school players a chance to improve their skills, while getting to play at one of the finest rugby facilities in the country.”
All camp activities take place at Cal’s Witter Rugby Field, a dedicated rugby facility and home to Cal Varsity Rugby. Accompanying Coach Triplett is Cal Assistant Coach, Sarah Davis, along with current and former players from the Cal Women’s Team.
“Mari’s main focus is to create more opportunities for girls in the sport,” says Jason West, senior vice president of Nike Rugby Camps. “This camp gives her a platform to share her knowledge and experience at the collegiate and international level with young female ruggers aspiring to compete in college or beyond."
The Nike Girls Rugby Camp at Cal takes place July 23 – 24 and is open to female players of all abilities, ages 14 – 18. The camp costs $150 and runs from 9:00am – 4:00pm each day. Visit Nike Girls Rugby Camp at Cal for more information.
