Junior rugby players in New England are welcome to join Nike Overnight Rugby Camp at Governor’s Academy with esteemed coaches Scott Lawrence and Justin Hickey.

(PRWEB) March 17, 2014 – US Sports Camps announced Governor’s Academy in Byfield, MA as the newest location for junior rugby camp on the east coast. The program is being offered from July 17th – 20th and is open to all boys, ages 14 to 18.  Beginner and experienced rugby players alike are welcome to join and develop the fundamental skills needed to bring their game to the next level.

“The Governor’s Academy is the perfect setting for an overnight rugby camp,” states Manager of Nike Rugby Camps, Nicholas Brunner. “Coaches Hickey and Lawrence continue their mission of bringing top-notch rugby programs to athletes across the U.S. in hopes of further growing the game domestically.”

Co-directing the Nike Rugby Camp at Governor’s Academy are Justin Hickey, head coach of the Clemson University Rugby program, and Scott Lawrence, former 2012 Team USA U-20 head coach and Life University defense coach.  With decades of rugby playing and coaching experience, these directors pride themselves in developing the skills of young athletes and creating a deeper understanding of the game.

“We're excited to be expanding the Nike Rugby Camp brand in the Northeast, particularly the Boston area, which has a rich history and tradition in our sport,” states Clemson Head Rugby Coach, Justin Hickey. “The first recorded rugby match in the U.S. took place at Harvard, and we're very proud to continue the development of the game here some 140 years later. Not only does Boston provide a great opportunity for local youth players to attend the camp, but it's a convenient location for international campers as well.”

Overnight campers reside in the dormitories on campus and have meals in the dining halls. The primary goal of our directors is to develop players’ individual skill sets and optimize team play.  Seminars on nutrition, mental preparation, strength and conditioning, and film analysis will also be offered throughout the camp week. Following rugby activities, campers will participate in evening activities on campus.
