Nike Cross Country Camps Announces New Location at Winona State University!
US Sports Camps, Inc. is pleased to announce the inaugural year of Nike Cross Country Camps at Winona State University in Winona, MN, July 22nd-26th. Located just two hours south of Minneapolis and less than 45 minutes from airports in LaCrosse and Rochester, Nike Cross Country Camp at Winona State gives high school distance runners the chance to learn and run in one of the finest training environments in the Midwest. Our camp is designed to teach you the fundamentals of cross country. The emphasis will be on providing you a great fun-filled learning week.
Directing camp is Adam Boothe, Assistant Cross Country and Track Coach at Winona State. “Our Nike Cross Country Camp is designed to teach young runners what it means to be the ‘complete runner’. With the help of NCAA coaches and athletes, campers will learn and perfect all aspects of training and racing, both on and off the race course” says Coach Boothe. The California native and NCAA Nationals Qualifier ran for 1988 Olympic Trials Marathon Champion Mark Conover at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
Campers will not only get in some great training at camp, but will learn lessons outside of running as well. “We’ll have some great workouts at camp, be we’ll also focus on the areas besides running that make great cross country runners,” states Coach Boothe. “Runners will learn about nutrition, visualization, goal setting, race techniques, and many other things to help them become a focused well-rounded runner. Our goal is to have runners return to their teams ready and excited to have an excellent cross country season.”
Offering both overnight and day camp options, our goal at the Nike Cross Country Camp at Winona State University is to stimulate a love for distance running by immersing you in the sport and giving you the kind of focused, intensive training essential to improvement. Over the course of camp your enthusiasm and self-confidence will grow along with your fitness.
