Stanford Swimmer Breaks Record Team Finishes Second

San Rafael, CA - History was made when the school, league, NCAA, U.S. Open and American records in the 200-yard individual medley fell during the Pac-12 Conference Championships. American record holder Ryan Lochte held the record at 1:40.08 achieved in 2007 at the Winter Nationals.

“What an incredible effort today,” said Ted Knapp, Stanford’s Head Men’s Swimming Coach. The 2015 Pac-12 Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships came down to the wire, and USC won the 400-yard freestyle relay finale to claim the title over Stanford and the six-team field. It was the first Pac-12 meet in 36 years won by a school other than Stanford or Cal.

USC totaled 818.5 points and the Cardinal finished second for the third straight season with 809.5 points. The Golden Bears placed third with 673. Arizona finished fourth with 508 points, Arizona State (309) moved up to fifth and Utah (283) finished sixth.

This summer Head Men's Coach, Ted Knapp, and Head Women's Coach, Greg Meehan, are offerring 5 sessions this summer of the Stanford Swim Camp. Improve your stroke technique and get better this summer starting with a day only camp, June 15-18, and four overnight/extended day camps, June 20-24, June 25-29, June 30-July 4 and July 5-9.
