Congratulations to Sea Colony Beach & Tennis Resort, Named USTA’s Outstanding Facility of the Year!
San Rafael, CA (PR WEB) October 29, 2012 – Sea Colony Beach & Tennis Resort, located just south of Bethany Beach, Delaware, was selected by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) to receive the 2012 Outstanding Facility of the Year award.

Beginning in 1981, the USTA annually honors top tennis facilities like the Sea Colony Beach & Tennis Resort. The USTA’s Outstanding Facility Award Program is designed to motivate high standards in tennis facilities and to recognize those facilities who make great efforts to establish a top notch tennis facility.
“I am so proud of how our tennis program has developed and evolved over the last two years,” said Thomas Johnston, Sea Colony’s director of tennis and Director of Sea Colony Beach Resort Nike Tennis Camp. “Our junior programs have grown so rapidly – both in participation and number of offerings - and our schedule of events for all ages and skill levels is so diverse.”
The USTA Outstanding Facility of the Year is not the only recognition Sea Colony has recently received. Earlier this year, TENNIS magazine honored Sea Colony among its 2012 Top 50 American Resorts, as well as ranking it the No. 3 resort in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Sea Colony Beach & Tennis Resort has 34 tennis courts including four indoor and 14 Har-Tru clay. Led by Tennis Director Thomas Johnston, state and national champions, elite juniors and top collegiate tennis players have emerged from the Sea Colony tennis program. This year, Thomas Johnson’s Sea Colony Beach Resort Nike Tennis Camp is offering two weeks of General Day Camps (9:00am-3:00pm) for kids ages 8-17 of all abilities as well as one week of Full Day (9:00am-3:00pm) and another week of Half Day (1:00-5:00pm) Tournament Training camps.
Nike Tennis Camps offer junior and adult overnight and day camps at 73 locations nationwide. The camps provide first-rate instruction, match play, diversified social activities, exposure to life in a university setting – and the chance to build lasting friendships.
