Basketball Camps opening in Bangkok, Thailand
June 13, 2013
NBC Camps will be opening two weeks of basketball camp for the first time this summer in Bangkok, Thailand. NBC Camps decided to run basketball camps in Thailand after coming into contact with a camper flying from Bangkok to the NBC College Basketball Prep Camp. NBC Camps began in 1971 as Northwest Basketball Camp and opened in Cusick, Washington with 108 campers. NBC Camps President and Founder Fred Crowell recalls the beginning moments of starting NBC Camps. “I recently stopped coaching as a former Division 1 coach and came to Spokane to run a family counseling practice. I saw so many hurting families that I wanted to spend my summers building a basketball program that teaches players to be the best they can be on the court as well as train them to excel off the court. You can tell by the name Northwest Basketball Camp that I wasn’t dreaming very big. I never imagined we would someday be opening and running camps in many of the places we are today, let alone Thailand.”
NBC Camps will run camps at the American School of Bangkok which is recognized as one of the top International schools in Thailand and according to their mission seeks to foster excellence in education and instill the value of diversity and mutual respect. NBC Camps will run camps starting June 17th and June 23rd providing NBC Coaching Staff and training curriculum. The camp will be conducted in English.
NBC Camps has operated in Spokane for over 42 years and currently offers summer basketball and volleyball camps for Spokane residents at Whitworth University, Upper Columbia Academy, the Spokane Warehouse, the Hub Sports Center, and North Idaho College.
