USSC Camper Registrations Safe from Heartbleed Bug

April 10, 2014

This past week a major internet-wide security threat was identified and many parents have called in concerned that it might be a risk to complete a camp registration. The good news is that the USSC registration server is completely isolated from our main web server.

The bug CVE–2014–0160, now commonly referred to as the Heartbleed bug, only impacts servers running certain versions of OpenSSL. OpenSSL is only used on Apache systems, not Windows / IIS based servers. Fortunately, our shopping cart and registration servers are entirely Windows / IIS based.

While this remains a huge security concern for many websites, we're grateful that our customers can sign up for camp with confidence that their privacy is and always has been protected on the USSportsCamps.com registration server.
