Join Clemson Head Rugby Coach, Justin Hickey, and 2012 Team USA U20 Coach, Scott Lawrence, for an incredible rugby experience this summer. You’ll receive expert coaching on all aspects of the game and apply what you’ve learned into an exciting, competitive match setting. Campers reside in university dorms and play on the Clemson rugby fields. Whether you’re just discovering this great sport or looking to advance your existing skill-set, this camp will help your game improve!
The Nike Evolution Rugby Camp at Clemson offers a four-day, three-night camp experience directed by a nationally recognized staff. The overnight camp includes key fundamental drills, high performance education modules, competitive match play, all meals, housing and evening group activities.

Justin Hickey
Coach Hickey is in his third season as head coach of the successful Clemson Tiger Rugby Program. Hickey worked for two years as manager for the USA Rugby U20 Junior All American Team that competed in the IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy in T'Bilisi, Georgia in 2011, and won the competition in Salt Lake City, UT in June 2012, earning the USA promotion to the IRB Junior World Championship competition in 2013.
Read Full BioCoach Hickey began his coaching career where his playing career started, as assistant coach at Catholic Central High School, in Grand Rapids, MI. Hickey helped start the Davenport University Varsity Rugby team in Grand Rapids, in 2009, which went on to win the 2011 & 2012 USA Rugby Division 1AA National Championship. Coach Hickey served as assistant coach/manager for the USA Rugby High School All American 7s Team, which toured to British Columbia in 2011, as well as serving as manager of the USA Rugby High School All Americans from 2009-2010.
Scott Lawrence
In June 2012, Coach Lawrence led the USA U20 team to a Junior World Rugby Trophy championship in his 2nd year with the program. Coach Lawrence serves as the defense coach for the 2012 Collegiate National Semi Finalist, Life University Rugby program.
Read Full BioNike Evolution Rugby Camps provide a high level training environment for young rugby athletes, based on focus, commitment, passion, work ethic, skill, and enjoyment. Players receive specialized coaching geared toward developing improved individual and team skills. With coaches who are passionate about the game of rugby, players can expect to further increase their love and motivation for the game.
Program options
The overnight camp includes key fundamental drills, educational seminars, team strategies, match play, film analysis, meals, housing, and group activities. Campers will be staying in the Holmes residence halls located on campus as well as eating in campus dining halls.
Check-In and Check-Out
Check-in takes place between 1:00-2:00pm on Sunday. Check-out takes place at Noon on Wednesday.
Early Arrivals
Early arrivals are responsible for own accommodations as dormitory accommodation is not available the night before camp starts.
Linens and A/C
Linens are included in the camp price and will be provided to campers. All dorms have air conditioning.
Team Discounts
Evolution is offering a $25 dollar discount for each player when 5 or more players from the same team sign up for camp and a $40 per player discount for 10 or more players from the same team. To receive team discounts please call 1-800-645-3226. Please note: registering online will not offer the team discount option.
Supervision
Campers are supervised 24 hours a day. The staff will reside in the residence halls with the campers and participate in evening activities. Supervision will be maintained at an 8:1 staff to camper ratio at all times. Campus rules and regulations will be strictly enforced at all times.
Transportation
Campers are responsible for travel to and from camp. Those traveling by air are recommended to contact Anderson-Clemson Shuttle Services for a door to door drop off service from Greenville-Spartanburg Airport (888-732-5550). This service is provided as additional expense to the traveler, and is not included in the camp tuition.
Meals
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided at Harcombe Dining Hall, featuring restaurant-style cuisine for customers looking for an "all-inclusive" alternative to current retail food courts. A trendy and comfortable environment has been provided for students to hang out with their friends, while providing healthy and diverse culinary options customized to meet their lifestyle needs.
Registration Packets
A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact info, and a checklist of what to bring will be emailed to all registered campers prior to arrival at camp.
