Staff

Sami Strinz - St. Mary's College

Sami Strinz brings a multitude of experience from both an outstanding playing career at LMU and Division I head coaching experience and looks to help lead Saint Mary's back to the NCAA Tournament.  Strinz spent the past four seasons as the head coach at the University of North Dakota where she led the Fighting Sioux to their first conference championship in program history in 2010. In her time at UND, Strinz helped the Fighting Sioux put up all-time offensive numbers in runs scored, hits, home runs, stolen bases and walks.

Prior to her time at North Dakota, Strinz served as the head coach at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, S.D. for two seasons. After inheriting a program that had averaged five wins over the previous five seasons, Strinz engineered a two-year turnaround that saw the Tigers win a school-record 17 games in 2007.

Her first stint in the coaching world was in 2005 when she spent the season as an assistant at Lousiana Tech. Strinz served as the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator and helped the Bulldogs set school records for home runs and doubles.

Strinz returns to the Pacific Coast Softball Conference after having left her mark as a player at Loyola Marymount. With the Lions, Strinz was a member of the first-ever PCSC Championship team and was named the conference's first PCSC Player of the Year as a junior in 2003. Strinz was a four-year letterwinner and three-year all-conference performer as a pitcher and designated player.

Prior to arriving at North Dakota, Ward spent the 2007 season as an assistant coach at the University of Northern Iowa, where he worked specifically with the team's hitters and outfielders.

Ward was also the head softball coach at Nora Springs Rock Falls High School in Nora Springs, Iowa where he helped the team to offensive records in home runs, batting average, runs scored, and runs batted in. Before that, he spent three seasons as an assistant softball coach at North Iowa Arena Community College.

Taught My Daughter More Softball & Being A Young Lady

"I cannot put into words the experience my daughter gained from going to the camp. She not only learned skills in softball but how to be a better young lady. The morals and values the staff brought to the camp were extraordinary. We looked at sending her to another camp and decided on the NIKE Camp for convenience and I am so glad we did. I will highly recommend this camp to anyone who is interested in gaining skills and personal growth. We look forward to next year!!"

Honest Assessment of My Skills

"I've been playing competitive travel softball for five years now yet I felt the coaches at this camp helped me improve my game in many ways. They showed me where I needed improvement and were very honest in their assessments of my skills. They recommended coaches to help me continue to improve after the camp - and I really appreciate that."
