Nike Softball Camps is proud to announce our newest Northern California location at Sierra College in Rocklin, CA. Longtime Nike Softball Camp Director Debbie Nelson will lead the program.

Director Debbie Nelson is recognized as one of the top private teaching instructors in the business and is the owner of All American Sports Academy in Tracy, CA. The Academy was established in 1997 and has trained over 400 all league, all conference and all star student athletes.

Debbie Nelson

Coach Nelson's training and coaching experience (over 25 years) began in Sacramento. After spending one year at St Francis High School where the team finished as CIF Champions, she spent the next six years at Sacramento State University.

As the Assistant and Head Coach for the Sacramento State Hornets, coach Nelson's team competed in Regional and College World Series competitions. Coach Nelson also spent four years as the Head coach for the San Jose State Spartans. During Debbie's 10 years of coaching at the college level she has produced talented and top ranked teams as well as All Conference, All State, and NCAA All Americans players. Debbie also coached an 18 and under USA Team in Europe in 2001 which won the Silver Medal that year. Debbie has been a Director for the US Sports Nike Softball Camp since 1996. In 2004, Debbie joined the National Pro Fastpitch league as an assistant coach for the California Sunbirds.

As a college player, Debbie achieved All Region, All State,
and NCAA All American honors while earning her Bachelors degree at Sacramento State University. Debbie enjoys coaching and teaching athletes at all levels. Debbie loves to see the self-esteem, confidence and competitive skills her students athletes achieve through participation in sports!

Darci Brownell

Darci begins her 15th season as Sierra’s Head Coach after serving two years as an assistant under CCCFCA Hall of Fame coach Karen Linde. Her 14-year record at the Wolverine helm is an astounding 559-166-1 with 14 straight playoff appearances and regional championships.

Her teams won Big 8 titles in 2010 and 2012 and have played in eight Elite Eights, one Final Four and one state title game during her tenure.

Since 2000, Darci has produced 28 NFCA All-Americans, 19 All-State 1st Team, 29 All-NorCal, 71 All-Conference 1st Team, and 20 Academic All-Conference student athletes. She has coached two CCCAA state Players of the Year, one state Pitcher of the Year, and one NFCA National Catcher of the Year. More than 100 Sierra players have earned scholarships to four-year schools and Darci’s 2010 squad was named the USA’s top academic community college team.

In 2009, she helped guide the team to a NorCal championship and a state runner-up finish with 44 wins, the most in Sierra history. Darci was named the Big 8, Northern California and State Coach of the Year in 2010 as her Wolverines captured the Big 8 championship and reached the NorCal finals. Her 41-8 2012 team took the Big 8 title and earned a berth in the CCCAA Final Four with an epic come-from-behind win at the San Mateo Super Regional.

Her experience includes 10 years at the high school level where she led Del Campo to the playoffs six times. Four of her teams were CAL Champions, and she was Coach of the Year in 1993. Her overall record at the varsity level was 139-26. Darci played at CSU Sacramento for four years as a catcher and outfielder. She also played ASA summer ball for the NorCal Tremors. She received her B.A. degree from CSUS in Childhood Development with a minor in Physical Education. She has a Master's in Education and Curriculum.

Coach Hayes is the newest member of the Wolverine staff. One of the premier hitting instructors in northern California, Bob brings a wealth of coaching experience to Sierra. He has played or coached softball for more than 44 years. Prior to Sierra, he was on Bob Maglione’s Sacramento City College staff, where he had the pleasure of coaching daughter Kayla for two years. He is a private hitting instructor with numerous local college, high school and age-group clients.

He lives in Orangevale with wife Janet and is the proud grandfather of oldest daughter Kyle’s daughter Emery.

2014 marks Cortney’s fifth season on the Sierra staff. She played softball for 13 years before ending her competitive career with the 2009 Sierra College team that finished second in the state. The former catcher and third-baseman works with Wolverine pitchers, catchers and corners and runs the team’s strength and conditioning program.

Cortney spent three years on the Colfax High School and NorCal Freeze coaching staffs, and was the Assistant Commissioner of the NorCal Girls Fastpitch board for six years. Cortney has worked as a certified personal trainer and is the Sierra College Housing Supervisor. She is working toward a kinesiology degree and is married to fellow Wolverine assistant Brett Magorian. The Magorians are the parents of two future Wolverines, Kennedie (10) and Rylee (9).

Brett Magorian, Assistant Coach

Brett enters his second season on Coach Brownell’s staff. He was the head coach at Folsom High School from 2010-2012 and spent time on the coaching staffs at Colfax High School and NorCal Girls Fastpitch. Brett works with Sierra’s infielders, is the first base coach on game days, and helps Coach Brownell with recruiting.

Married to Sierra assistant Cortney Magorian, Brett spends much of his time working on softball fundamentals with daughters Kennedie and Rylee. He is employed by Magorian Mining Services.

Camp Details

Debbie Nelson, owner of All American Sports Academy joins forces with the Sierra College staff to bring a Nike Softball Camp to Rocklin, CA. This camp is for any softball player looking to enhance their game. Prospect campers will participate in SPARQ training and chalk talks on what it takes to make it to the collegiate level.

More Details

CHECK-IN

Check-in takes place between 11:00am-12:00pm on Monday at the Sierra College Dorms. 

CHECK-OUT

There will be a brief award ceremony at 1:30pm. Camp concludes on Thursday at 2:00pm. 

OVERNIGHT CAMP

Includes all softball and and night activities, all meals from dinner on Monday to lunch on Thursday, and double room occupancy in the dorms.

EXTENDED DAY CAMP

Includes all softball and night activities, dinner on Monday, lunch and dinner Tuesday-Wednesday. Extended day campers will be picked up at 9:00pm each day aside from Thursday when camp ends at 2:00pm.

REGISTRATION PACKET

A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact numbers, and a checklist of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers in the Spring. The US Sports Camps health and release forms do not require a doctor's signature and they will be collected on the first day of camp.​

Facilities

Opened in 1962, the 311-acre Rocklin Campus is nestled in the Sierra Nevada foothills minutes from Sacramento along Interstate 80. The campus is located in South Placer County, one of the most rapidly growing areas in California.

More than fifty buildings dot the campus, ranging from classrooms to technology laboratories to student centers. The four-story Learning Resources Center is the most visible structure.

Excellent athletic facilities, including a twisting cross country course and the new Ostrom Football Stadium, ring the campus. The campus is beautifully landscaped and the fall colors are unforgettable. 

Campers attending this camp will reside in the dorms on campus, eat their meals at the school's cafeteria and train on their state of the art softball field.
