Nike Swim Camp at Lawrence University

USSC is proud to offer our 2nd annual Nike Swim Camp in Wisconsin at Lawrence University. The 84-acre campus is located in downtown Appleton, divided into two parts by the Fox River. Designed for competitive swimmers to improve and refine their stroke technique our goal at the Nike Swim Camp is to teach the things that will make the biggest difference to your performance.

The academic campus is on the north shore of the river, and the major athletic facilities are on the southeast shore. Campers train each day at the Olympic-size swimming pool in the Buchanan Kiewit Wellness Center.

The Nike Swim Camp at Lawrence University is open to any and all entrants. For your safety and benefit, we recommend you have competitive swimming experience (e.g. U.S.S. age group, national qualifiers, high school swimmers, or summer league swimmers) and can swim at least 50 meters in all four competitive strokes: fly, back, breast and freestyle.

In his first season at Lawrence, Fleek led the women's team to a second-place finish at the Midwest Conference Championships, and the men grabbed third place at the league meet. Lawrence also had both the men's and women's conference Swimmers of the Year, a first for the Vikings. Hayley Vatch won three titles on her way to being named women's Swimmer of the Year, and Peter Brengel also won three titles and was named men's Swimmer of the Year.

A native of Lincoln, Neb., Fleek was a standout swimmer at the University of South Dakota. A four-year letterwinner, he served as team captain and was a 12-time North Central Conference finalist. An all-conference selection in 2001, he was a five-time NCAA "B" qualifier. Fleek was nominated for the school's Male Student Athlete of the Year Award in 2003 and won his team's Most Improved Award in 2000.

Fleek, who earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education and a master's degree in athletic administration from South Dakota, served as a graduate assistant at his alma mater in 2004 and 2005. He also has experience coaching at the high school and club levels.

In his final season at Wooster, Fleek helped guide the women to a third-place finish and the men to fifth in the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships.

Lots of individual feedback!

I really enjoyed analyzing the videos our counselors took of us swimming the different strokes. I got lots of helpful indvidualized feedback on my strokes too. The games were fun, but competitive, and gave the campers time to get to know each other. The drill sessions greatly improved my stroke.

Extremely well run!

Nike Swim Camp at Lawrence University was an extremely well run and well organized camp. My son dramatically improved the timing for his breathing on the butterfly to maximize his speed, and fixed his whip kick for the butterfly. He can't wait to continue working on these and all of the improvements he made during the week. He will be back next year!

Very organized!

The Nike swim Camp was very organized, well staffed, and customized to different age levels and abilities.  The staff was pleasant and easy to work with and they seemed very accommodating and flexible. He learned a ton in a short period of time.  The coaches were also very good about giving each camper one on one time which really helped him imporve!

Thanks again for a great week!

The Nike Swim Camp helped me become a better swimmer, from starts and turns to stroke technique. The counselors were very nice and very instructive. The coaching was very easy to understand, and if you needed to be explained another way they were very patient with you.  Thanks again for a great week!
