Ben Delia

Ben Delia enters his fourth year at the helm of the Franklin & Marshall men's and women's swimming programs in 2014-15. In his first three years at F&M, the Diplomats have produced 29 All-Centennial Conference (CC) Team recipients, while capturing nine gold medals at the conference championship meet.

A total of 22 school records have been set during his three seasons, as F&M swimmers have also earned 12 NCAA B-Cut qualifying times. Delia led the men to a fifth-place finish at the 2014 CC Championships and the women’s team to a third-place showing. Under Delia’s guidance, Jillian Albus ’17 was named the conference’s “Outstanding Rookie Swimmer” at the event, while Katherine Grant competed at the NCAA Championships for the second-consecutive year.

In 2013, Delia guided both the men and women to third-place finishes at the CC Championship meet, while Katie Grant became the first F&M female swimmer to earn All-America honors since 2010, claiming the nod in both the 500 and 1650 freestyle.

Prior to coming to Lancaster, Delia spent the previous four years as the head women's swimming coach at Randolph-Macon College. At Randolph-Macon, Delia’s women’s team finished second at the ODAC Championships each year and compiled a dual meet record of 27-12. Swimmers rewrote the record book 18 times, while the 2008-09 team set a program record for dual meet victories with 11. At the conference level, R-MC swimmers earned 30 All-ODAC selections, won 13 conference event championships and set 2 conference records. In 2011, Delia was named the ODAC Coach of the Year after his swimmers won 9 of 18 championship events and swept the postseason conference awards.

Delia began his coaching career with a stint as assistant coach at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn. after a successful four-year career at Hamilton College. As a student-athlete at Hamilton, Delia was a member of the All-NESCAC team and was a championship finalist on several occasions.

Delia still competes as an elite amateur triathlete. He has earned USA Triathlon All-American honors on several occasions, and also finished in the top 100 at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in 2010.

A native of Oswego, N.Y., Delia graduated from Hamilton in May of 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a concentration in economics. He earned his Master's Degree in economics from Trinity College in 2007.

Improve your stoke technique and get better this summer!

I would recommend the Nike swim camp at Franklin & Marshall to any teen who is interested in improving their techniques and timing. The counselors were knowledgeable, caring and patient. As a first time experience for our child, we felt she was safe, well cared for and given helpful instruction.

This was my daughter's 1 overnight camp experience (10 yrs old). When I left her at camp I felt the team they had was very capable and I was happy for her to have the experience. She loved it and can not wait to go again next year!

Can I come back next year?

This was my son's first camp experience so we were both a little nervous. He had a great time and learned a lot. The first thing he asked me when I returned to pick him up was "can I come back next year"?

Really enjoyed this camp!

I really enjoyed this camp! It was a good experience and I thought the staff was phenomenal. I would say though that it is better for developmental swimmers. The technique work was very good.

Excellent Experience!

My son had an excellent experience at the Nike Swim Camp at Franklin and Marshall. The emphasis on the finer points of competitive swimming was a terrific supplement to what his year round swim team offers. I plan to send him back next year!
