June 22-26 Peak Performance Swim Camp
June 22-26 Peak Performance Swim Camp

Spend 5 days with us in San Francisco at our day camp, offering training for every level of competitive swimmer, and highlighted by our unique SnapShot video.

A Holistic Approach To Competitive Swimming

In order for a swimmer to realize their full swimming potential they must be mentally, technically and physically fit. Contrary to popular belief, physical fitness by itself is not enough. A swimmer must also possess a high degree of mental and technical fitness.

At Peak Performance we pride ourselves in offering a balance between physical, technical and mental training. Referring to the chart below Peak 1 offers a 75/25 blend of physical and technical conditioning while our Peak 2 offers a 50/50 blend of physical and technical conditioning and Peak 3 offers a 25/75 blend of physical and technical conditioning. In addition, all of our camps offer an in-depth mental conditioning curriculum designed to enhance a swimmer's self-esteem, develop focus skills and improve the ability to perform in stressful situations.

NEW! SNAPSHOT VIDEO TRAINING

An exciting new video addition, where various parts of swimmers’ starts, strokes, or turns are videotaped above and below water, and individually reviewed by one of our master coaches. SnapShot is a fantastic teaching tool.

Camp Details

PEAK 1:

Open to swimmers ages 11-18 who train 5,000 yards/meters (or greater) per practice.

PEAK 1 is our most challenging camp. It is well suited for accomplished senior-level swimmers and elite-level age group swimmers. Participants must be mentally, technically, and physically prepared to endure the rigors of 4.5 hours of in-water training per day plus 1 hour of dry-land training per day. Approximately 75% of the total pool time is dedicated to physical conditioning; however, all sets include significant mental and technical expectations.

Rather than offer a series of generic training sets, each practice is created to reflect the group's needs and talent level. In addition, we do not condone garbage yardage or mindless meters. Each lap of practice must have purpose!

All-together PEAK 1 includes: 10 challenging in-water training sessions, 5 dry-land training sessions, 2 yoga sessions, and 2-3 mental conditioning sessions.

Note: Peak 1 is not well suited for swimmers with swimming-related injuries.

PEAK 2:

Open to swimmers ages 8-18 who train between 3,000 to 5,000 yards/meters per practice.

PEAK 2 offers a 50/50 blend of technical and physical conditioning and well suited for medium to elite-level age group swimmers who have qualified for top age group competition in their state/province. Participants must possess the maturity and discipline to handle 4.5 hours of in-water training per day plus 1 hour of dry-land training per day. In addition, they must exhibit a high degree of technical competency and physical fitness. Participants must be able to perform all four competitive strokes and turns and the three competitive starts (front, back, relay).

Thank you!

Dear Coach Baker,

We would like to thank you for the amazing coaching at the swim camp in San Francisco. It was one of the best learning experiences the boys have had in their lives. “Just awesome, 10 out of 10!” says our boys. You have a great connection with children – positive, encouraging, knowledgeable and convincible. I wish they would listen to me the same way!

When I looked at the way you are teaching, it is not only about teaching children how to swim, it applies so many ways in their later life. Life is about where people want to go and what people want to be, but the journey how to get there is the most difficult part. Swim training involves goal setting, lots of hard work, and persistence…and the book you wrote is very helpful to them.

Thank you Coach Baker and ALL the PEAK coaching team! We wish to see you next year.

Empowering camp experience!

Dear Coach Nick, Thank you for such an empowering camp experience. Throughout the camp, the coaches created a positive environment that served as a catalyst for positive change.

Upon leaving the camp I felt physically stronger, technically better equipped, and most of all, mentally tougher. I had always been, as you put it, a race horse. I went to all the practices, but was always saving my energy for that one killer main set. I was in a survivalistic mindset that kept me in my comfort zone. Through your camp I have realized that staying in my comfort zone will not get me anywhere. As a result of your swim camp, I am mentally equipped and have been welcoming each challenge set back in club practice. I will continue to strive to become a Race-practice horse so as to maximize my gain and minimize my time.

So far in the week of club swimming that I've had since the camp, I have made a conscious effort to keep what I learned in camp with me. I still wear the Swim Positive wrist band on my ankle every day. The wrist band really brings your philosophy into tangible form, and it really helps to remind me of everything I have learned.

Each day brings a new challenge and because of your swim camp, I feel ready and happy to face what adversity might come. I will always remember those talks that you had with the Elite group before getting into the water. They really helped me by providing encouragement and hope. Whenever I dislike a set, I remember what you said about thinking about what helps me, rather than what I like. All in all, your swim camp has really changed my outlook on practice and swimming itself. Truly, you have changed my attitude towards the sport, and for that you have my utmost thanks. Thank you for your commitment and level of dedication to the swimmers at your swim camp; I am sure we all appreciate it.

The camp is just so worth it!

We flew 17 hours from Malysia to ensure my 10 year old daughter can be part of this well established swim training and technique camp in San Diego, San Francisco and LA and I have to say it was the right decision. The camp is just so worth it.  I have added 2 more camps (Boston, New York) for this summer. This is the best exposure my daughter has had to technique correction in the last 20 months of swimming competitively.  I often wondered why my daughter, who works so hard, was not getting faster.  With these camps now I feel it is only a matter of time before she see's that improvement for the coaches have given her several "opportunities" or areas to work on. I am confident my daughter will improve in the next few months significantly.
