To fulfill our mission, we seek to empower our swimmers through a two-tiered process of teaching and training. The teaching side includes daily chalk talks, video presentations, and ongoing poolside demonstrations. In addition, a targeted teaching strategy focused on swimmers’ individual needs is employed.

At Peak Performance we pride ourselves in offering a balance between physical, technical and mental training. Peak 1 offers a 75/25 blend of physical and technical conditioning while our Peak 2 offers a 50/50 blend of physical and technical conditioning and Peak 3 offers a 25/75 blend of physical and technical conditioning. In addition, all of our camps offer an in-depth mental conditioning curriculum designed to enhance a swimmer's self-esteem, develop focus skills and improve the ability to perform in stressful situations.

More Important Camp Details

PEAK 1:

Well-suited for advanced age group and senior-level swimmers, ages 11-18, who train 5,000 yards/meters (or greater) per practice.

PEAK 1 is our most challenging swim camp. The camp builds throughout the week in both intensity and expectation. State-of-the-art skill progressions are combined with challenging swim sets. Swimmers are challenged to maintain their newly acquired skills throughout each set. Each day begins with a powerful mental presentation emphasizing the important role that the mind plays in peak swimming performance. The underlying “positive mental message” is repeated throughout the day to heighten its impact and create lasting change. Each day of camp ends on a high note with swimmers feeling mentally, technically, and physically empowered.

In addition to our 8 challenging in-water training sessions, PEAK 1 also includes 4 intense dry-land training sessions, 3 swimming related yoga sessions, and 4 inspiring mental conditioning sessions.

Note: Peak 1 is not well suited for swimmers with swimming-related injuries.

Check-in
Check-in will take place from 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM on June 19.

Camp Finale
The camp concludes at 12:00 PM on June 23. A special Gold Medal Award Ceremony will be held at approximately 11:30 AM. Parents are encouraged to attend.

PEAK 2:

Ideally suited for developmental, intermediate, and advanced age group swimmers, ages 9-16, who train between 3,000 to 5,000 yards/meters per practice.

PEAK 2 is the lead-up camp to PEAK 1. The daily structure of PEAK 2 is similar to PEAK 1, but the skill progressions and challenging swim sets are adjusted to reflect skill and performance levels. Lane assignments for swimmers are based on ability level rather than age. Like PEAK 1, each day begins with a powerful mental presentation emphasizing the important role that the mind plays in peak swimming performance. The underlying “positive mental message” is repeated throughout the day to heighten its impact and create lasting change. Each day of camp ends on a high note with swimmers feeling mentally, technically, and physically empowered.

In addition to our 8 challenging in-water training sessions, PEAK 2 also includes 4 intense dry-land training sessions, 3 swimming related yoga sessions, and 4 inspiring mental conditioning sessions.

PEAK 3:

Ideally suited for swimmers, ages 8-12, who have two or less years of competitive swimming experience, and train less than 3,000 yards/meters per practice.

PEAK 3 is the lead-up camp to PEAK 2. Participants should possess the maturity and discipline to handle 2 hours of in-water training per day plus 30 minutes of dry-land training. Participants should also exhibit a basic understanding of the four competitive strokes and turns, and the two competitive starts (front and back). Rather than offer generic sets, each practice is created to reflect the group’s needs and talent level.

The PEAK 3 package includes: 5 in-water training sessions, 5 dry-land training sessions, and 5 mental conditioning sessions.

Check-in
Check-in will take place from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM on June 19.

Thank you!

Dear Coach Baker,

We would like to thank you for the amazing coaching at the swim camp in San Francisco. It was one of the best learning experiences the boys have had in their lives. “Just awesome, 10 out of 10!” says our boys. You have a great connection with children – positive, encouraging, knowledgeable and convincible. I wish they would listen to me the same way! When I looked at the way you are teaching, it is not only about teaching children how to swim, it applies so many ways in their later life. Life is about where people want to go and what people want to be, but the journey how to get there is the most difficult part. Swim training involves goal setting, lots of hard work, and persistence…and the book you wrote is very helpful to them.

Thank you Coach Baker and ALL the PEAK coaching team! We wish to see you next year.

Empowering camp experience!

Dear Coach Nick, Thank you for such an empowering camp experience. Throughout the camp, the coaches created a positive environment that served as a catalyst for positive change.

Upon leaving the camp I felt physically stronger, technically better equipped, and most of all, mentally tougher. I had always been, as you put it, a race horse. I went to all the practices, but was always saving my energy for that one killer main set. I was in a survivalistic mindset that kept me in my comfort zone. Through your camp I have realized that staying in my comfort zone will not get me anywhere. As a result of your swim camp, I am mentally equipped and have been welcoming each challenge set back in club practice. I will continue to strive to become a Race-practice horse so as to maximize my gain and minimize my time.

So far in the week of club swimming that I've had since the camp, I have made a conscious effort to keep what I learned in camp with me. I still wear the Swim Positive wrist band on my ankle every day. The wrist band really brings your philosophy into tangible form, and it really helps to remind me of everything I have learned.

Each day brings a new challenge and because of your swim camp, I feel ready and happy to face what adversity might come. I will always remember those talks that you had with the Elite group before getting into the water. They really helped me by providing encouragement and hope. Whenever I dislike a set, I remember what you said about thinking about what helps me, rather than what I like. All in all, your swim camp has really changed my outlook on practice and swimming itself. Truly, you have changed my attitude towards the sport, and for that you have my utmost thanks. Thank you for your commitment and level of dedication to the swimmers at your swim camp; I am sure we all appreciate it.

The camp is just so worth it!

We flew 17 hours from Malysia to ensure my 10 year old daughter can be part of this well established swim training and technique camp in San Diego, San Francisco and LA and I have to say it was the right decision. The camp is just so worth it.  I have added 2 more camps (Boston, New York) for this summer. This is the best exposure my daughter has had to technique correction in the last 20 months of swimming competitively.  I often wondered why my daughter, who works so hard, was not getting faster.  With these camps now I feel it is only a matter of time before she see's that improvement for the coaches have given her several "opportunities" or areas to work on. I am confident my daughter will improve in the next few months significantly.

Camp seems to get better every time!

I wish to express how truly grateful I am for the past couple of years. I owe any ounce of technique and mental tips to you, Coach Nick.  From the first time I stepped foot at your camp until now, I feel like there has been a huge change in my maturity level and focus, and most of that is due to Peak Performance camps.  That is why I keep coming back…and every time the camps seem to get better and better.
