The Harbor Bay Club High Performance Nike Camp is an intense, 3-day training session. This summer tennis camp is geared toward tournament level juniors and is an ideal way to stay sharp during the summer season. Led by former collegiate head coach Paul Torricelli, the camp features live-ball drills, match situations and team play. Agility and change-of-direction, body language and mental skills are emphasized.
At the Harbor Bay Club Nike Tennis Camp, our goal is to give players the opportunity to hit thousands of balls, improve their technique, and be challenged by some of the best tennis players in their peer group. Our camps combine technical tennis instruction and drilling from a superb coaching staff, supervised match play, and fun free time to hang out with friends.

Camp Director
Paul Torricelli
- Director of Tennis at Harbor Bay Club
- Directed the Nike Tennis Summer Camp at Northwestern for 8 years.
- Has held several positions as Head Pro and Director at several clubs in Illinois.
Paul grew up in nearby San Lorenzo and attended Cal State Univ, Chico. He concluded a 30 year career when he retired from collegiate coaching in 2007, the last 24 years at Northwestern University. During that time, Paul won three Big Ten Coach of the Year awards and led the Wildcats to nine NCAA Tournament appearances, including two NCAA Team Sweet 16 finishes. He left NU as the winningest coach in its long history with a 342-247 record. In 2003, NU became the first recipient of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) Team Sportsmanship Award. Most notably, Paul was privileged at NU to coach former Davis Cup and Grand Slam star, Todd Martin. Todd won 8 ATP titles and was a finalist at both the U.S.and Australian Opens, reaching an ATP ranking of No. 4 in 1994. In May 2009, Paul had the honor of being inducted into the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) Hall of Fame in Georgia.
In addition to his coaching experience, Paul’s has held Head Pro and Director positions at several clubs in Illinois. He also directed the Nike Tennis Summer Camp at Northwestern for 8 years. Paul currently serves as Consultant For Tennis with Scholarship For Athletes, Inc, a national service that helps juniors find college tennis programs. In addition, he serves as color analyst for the Big Ten Network’s coverage of men’s tennis and commentary of the 2010 U.S. Open for World Feed on DirecTV. His certifications include Level 1 USPTA, USTA High Performance Coach, and the Professional Tennis Registry: Professional Level. He has been a frequent speaker for the USTA, including the Collegiate Coaches Workshop last summer at the USTA Player Development Headquarters in Boca Raton, Fla.
Paul also has Alameda roots, as his father grew up on the West End and was a standout swimmer at AHS. The family resided here until moving to San Lorenzo. With 3 new clinics he’s already started Paul is excited to begin his tenure at the club and is looking forward to meeting each of our tennis members! Until then please introduce yourself to Paul.
Program

Harbor Bay Club High Performance offers three, day-camp training sessions, one each in June, July and August. With mid-week, 3 day sessions, the camp offers juniors a training alternative that won’t interfere with weekend tournaments. Players will be grouped by ability level. The August camp is ideal for girl’s preparing for high school team try-outs.
Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week.
Check-In and Check-Out Times
Check-In: All Campers: Tuesday at 8:30am at Harbor Bay Club Tennis Office.
Check-out: All Campers: Thursday at 3:00pm at Harbor Bay Club Tennis Office.
Daily Program Schedule
Campers should be dropped off by 9:00am and picked up by 3:00pm daily. Campers should bring their own lunch or order from café next to tennis office.
Registration Packet
A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact info, and a list of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers in the Spring. Our health and release forms do not require a doctor's signature and they will be collected on the first day of camp.
