Nike Sport + ELS Language Program
Program dates: In addition to our seven weeks of Nike Tennis sessions which start on June 15, 2014, we are pleased to offer a 2-week combined tennis and language program beginning July 6, through July 18, 2014. Campers attending the two-week language and tennis camp may add additional sessions of Nike Tennis Camp to increase the length of their camp program. The last Nike camp session at Amherst is August 3rd through August 8.
Check-in July 6, 2014 Camp check-in starts at 2pm, but International campers may check-in when ever their flights arrive.
Check-out Friday July 18 - 12:00 Noon.
International campers will participate in language classes in the morning from 8:30-12:00 pm, and then participate in a specially created Nike Tennis program in the afternoon which will incorporate both drilling and match play. Qualified licensed instructors will help improve the camper’s accent, grammar and vocabulary. In addition to classroom training, your child will have a chance to practice their English when meeting new friends, sightseeing and playing tennis. Class sizes are small – no more than 15 per class. The combined ELS/Nike Tennis camp program is specifically designed for all sport and English skill levels.
In the evening, campers will participate in social activities with the rest of the camp. A weekend trip into Boston will be organized for those who want to explore the Boston downtown area. International campers will have the opportunity to improve their language skills, visit one of the oldest and most prestigious academic institutions on the East Coast and meet hundreds of American campers who share a passion for the game of tennis.
Instruction, coaching & training from Professionals, National Championship Coaches, College Players, and skilled teachers.
3 hours of daily instruction, match play, drills with a maximum 6:1 student/teacher ratio
30– 50 minute English lessons during the two week camp – 3 classes per day held on Amherst Campus.
Fun off-court evening activities for overnight campers including a movie night, team skits, a camp dance, pool party and "Night on the Town"

Logistics and Travel: Roundtrip transportation from Logan Airport (BOS) to Amherst College is provided as part of the tuition costs. All campers arriving will be met by staff from World Sport Camps - our transportation service provider. They will meet campers outside the customs area (with a sign saying Nike Sport Camps) and drive them to Amherst. A drink and snack will be provided for the 2 1/2 hour ride. If a child is an UM, our staff will meet the camper at the gate and on the return will wait with the camper at the gate until the child is able to board the airplane. Travel forms are located in our registration packets (available in the spring), and will need to be completed 3 weeks prior to camp in order to be scheduled for pickup at the airport.
Early arrival and late departures. International campers are welcome to add an extra night stay to accomodate international flights, or a weekend program to their camp stay $250 to extend their camp program/or add multiple sessions.There is a $125 fee per day to accommodate campers arriving early or staying beyond the final day of their registered session. This fee includes housing and meals. Please note that our camp staff can't receive early campers prior to Sunday June 15th, nor may campers stay past Friday August 8th (The final day of our last session.) Please note, there are no late departures allowed on the last session. All campers must depart camp by FRIDAY August 8th, 2014. At the conclusion of their camp program, all campers will be driven back to the airport . This transportation is included in the costs of you camp tuition.Transportation:
Meals are served in a dining hall located nearby the dorms. This is an all you can eat cafeteria featuring nutritous food options including vegetarian and vegan. Also most food allergies can be accomodated with notification.
Courts Campers will play on the 28 hard and clay courts on campus. Indoor courts are also available on campus in the event of rain.
Dorms: Campers will reside at Amherst College during their camp stay. Campers stay two to a room and are matched with an American camper the same age and gender (unless other requests are made). All camp facilities, meals, dorms, and playing fields are within walking distance. There is no A/C in the dorms. Campers may bring fans.
Evening Activities: During the evenings, campers will participate in activities which may include supervised trips to Amherst town center with its fun shops & restaurants, movie night at the local mall, pool and pizza party night, camp dance featuring a professional DJ, team skits, and “ice breaker” activities.

Registration Packet: A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact info, and a list of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers in the Spring. PLEASE NOTE: Our health and release forms require a doctor's signature and they will be collected on the first day of camp. Travel forms will need to be completed 3 weeks prior to camp in order to be scheduled for pickup at the airport.
Safety: 24-hour supervision is an important feature of every NIKE Sport Camp. Staff members reside in campers’ quarters and participate in all activities
Medical Staff: Trainer on call at all time
Rain Plan - In the slight chance of rain we watch and analyse movies primarily tennis videos of college and pro matches.
Instruction: 6:1 camper to coach ratio during tennis instruction. Language class size is max 15 students. Supervision ratio during evening and all activities is 10:1 student to staff ratio.
Recommended Spending Money: $100 per week
Housing: Campers stay 2 to a room/shared bathroom. Genders separated by floor.
All-inclusive tuition: Covers language instruction, sport instruction, housing, meals, roundtrip airport transfers, weekend stayover(s), and activities.

Since 1994, Amherst has been the “flagship” for tennis specialty camp programs throughout the country. Amherst’s “state of the art” tennis program uses the latest teaching techniques including detailed stroke breakdown, "live" drilling, coached match play, strategy sessions, and weekly team tournaments. This popular overnight tennis camp location attracts campers from all over the world!
Amherst College, nestled in the small New England town of Amherst, is located in central Massachusetts. It is approximately 90 miles west of Boston and 165 miles north of New York City. While attending Nike/Amherst, campers will play on the 28 hard and clay courts situated on campus. Indoor courts are also available on campus in the event of rain. The camp has use of the Amherst College athletic fields, swimming pools and gymnasiums for off court training and activities.
