Join us this summer at the NIKE Tennis Camp at Amherst College. You'll improve your Tennis game, meet new friends from all over the world and with our new Sport and Language programs, you'll improve your English too!
Come join the fun at Amherst College this summer. International campers can choose from two to four weeks of sport only camp at Amherst College or start things off with a week of language at nearby Williston Northampton School in Easthampton, MA
The language week is being offered through our new partnership with World Camp which is located on the Williston Northamption School. Founded and operated by the Shand family, World Sports Camp has over a quarter century of experience. Offering a language program for 2.5 hours each day during the first week, this program is the perfect place for campers to begin their NIKE Camp experience this summer.
Qualified instructors will help improve campers's accent, grammar and vocabulary (including the latest words and phrases.) In addition to classroom training, campers will have the chance to learn and practice their English when meeting new friends, sightseeing and playing sports. Class size is small and classes are offered Monday through Friday from 9am to 11:30am.
In addition to their language classes, campers can choose up to 3 additional sports to train and practice during this first week. (Campers can choose from basketball, soccer, tennis or golf.) Campers can do a variety of sports each day - or the same one for the whole week. It's up to them.
After their language week, campers will be transported to Amherst College where they will start their NIKE Tennis Camps. Since 1994, Amherst has been the “flagship” for tennis specialty camp programs throughout the country. Amherst’s “state of the art” tennis program uses the latest teaching techniques including detailed stroke breakdown, "live" drilling, coached match play, strategy sessions, and weekly team tournaments. This popular overnight tennis camp location attracts campers from all over the world!

Williston Northampton School, located in East Hampton, Massachusetts, is a 125-acre boarding school offers gorgeous facilities for our campers to enjoy, including state-of-the-art athletic facitlities, air-conditioned dorms, award winning dining hall, a computer room, and a camp store. Athletic facilities include a six-lane swimming pool with diving well, all-weather track, squash courts, turf fields, indoor soccer facility, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, and a fitness center.

Amherst College, nestled in the small New England town of Amherst, is located in central Massachusetts. It is approximately 90 miles west of Boston and 165 miles north of New York City. While attending Nike/Amherst, campers will play on the 28 hard and clay courts situated on campus. Indoor courts are also available on campus in the event of rain. The camp has use of the Amherst College athletic fields, swimming pools and gymnasiums for off court training and activities.

Chris Garner-Tennis Director. Coach Garner, a former All American from the University of Georgia as well as a former world class player, is currently the Men’s Tennis Coach at Amherst College. Under Coach Garner, Amherst College Men’s Tennis won the National Championship in 2011 and reached the NCAA finals in 2009. Coach Garner has successfully coached college tennis at The Ohio State University, and The University of Colorado. As a junior player, Coach Garner was ranked as high as no. 1 in the U.S. Coach Garner brings a “world class” level of training to the Nike National Training Program at Mt. Holyoke.

Overview of Sport + Language Program
This year we are are offering five weeks of overnight camp for kids ages 10-18 of all skill levels. A special language week can be added prior to any of these Amherst Tennis Camp session beginning with the July 7th session. These language sessions offer language classes in the morning and multi-sport training (campers can choose their sport) in the afternoon and evening. At the conclusion of the week, campers are tranported to Amherst College where they will begin their NIKE Tennis Camp program.

Tennis Camp: NIKE Tennis Camps provide young golfers with the tools to enjoy this great game for a lifetime. Our curriculum is the perfect blend of expert instruction, match play and fun off-course activities. With the experience and passion of Mike Gardner and his staff, each NIKE camper can leave at the end of the week feeling more confident about their game.
Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week.
Check-in from World Camp:
Campers will be brought over to Amherst College on Sunday in time for camp check-in between 1:00-2:00pm
Check-in between 1:00pm and 2:00pm.
Check-out at 12:00 noon on last day of camp (Friday) following a brief graduation ceremony.
Dorms: Campers will reside at Williston Northampton School for the initial week of their stay in the US. Campers stay two to a room and are matched with an American camper the same age and gender (unless other requests are made). All camp facilities, meals, dorms, and playing fields are within walking distance. During the subsquent weeks, campers will reside in Amherst College dormitories and eat meals in the dining hall. Campers stay 2 per room (some triples may be available). The rooms are assigned according to sex, age, and roommate requests. There is no A/C in the dorms, but they don't get too hot. Campers may bring fans.
Transportation: Roundtrip transportation from Logan Airport (BOS) to Williston Northamption and to Amherst College are provided to all sport and language multi-week campers. Unaccompanied Minor (UM) fees are not included. If a child is an UM, our staff will meet the camper at the gate and on the return will wait with the camper at the gate until the child is able to board the airplane. Travel forms are located in our registration packets (available in the spring), and will need to be completed 3 weeks prior to camp in order to be scheduled for pickup at the airport.
Evening Activities: During the evenings, campers will participate in activities which may include supervised trips to Amherst town center with its fun shops & restaurants, movie night at the local mall, pool and pizza party night, camp dance featuring a professional DJ, team skits, and “ice breaker” activities.
- We are also offering the SAT Prep as a alternative to evening activities on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings during the Amherst HIGH SCHOOL WEEKS (ONLY). The SAT prep will run about 2-2.5 hours a night and be held on campus. This program will only be offered during the high school week. It will be taught by a certified SAT prep teacher from Yale. There is no cost to participate; it will take the place of an evening activity.
Designated Airport: Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
Registration Packet: A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact info, and a list of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers in the Spring. PLEASE NOTE: Our health and release forms require a doctor's signature and they will be collected on the first day of camp. Travel forms will need to be completed 3 weeks prior to camp in order to be scheduled for pickup at the airport.
