At the conclusion of the spring seasons in 2015 and 2016, Dreves was named ITA West Region Coach of the Year. The latter occurred after Dreves led the women's tennis team to the 2016 Northwest Conference championship, their first since 1979, and the men's team to their first-ever national ranking. The women concluded the 2015-16 academic year as the No. 18 team in the ITA national rankings, while the men were No. 39. Dreves was also named NWC Coach of the Year for both the men's and women's teams.

Dreves joined the Pioneers staff following seven years at the Spokane Club where he served in multiple capacities, most recently as the Athletic Director/Director of Tennis.

Dreves is no stranger to the Northwest Conference, serving as the head coach of the Whitworth men's tennis program in 1996, prior to going on to have great success at Linfield College (1998-2002). During his time at Linfield, he helped build the Wildcats into a regional powerhouse, winning the NWC Championship on both the men's and women's side in 2002. He is a three-time NWC Coach of the Year, earning the award in 2000 (women), 2001 (men) and 2016 (men and women).

Following his time at Linfield, Dreves served as the men's and women's coach at Eastern Washington University (2004-07), where he was named the Big Sky Conference Men's Coach of the Year in 2007 after coaching the Eagles to a second-place conference finish.

A member of the United States Tennis Association, Dreves has served on the Youth Competition Committee and the Junior Coaches Commission for nine years, while also being a part of the competitive training center coaching staff.

A two-sport athlete at Whitworth University, Dreves was the captain of both the tennis and soccer teams. Successful in both sports, he was named both All-Conference and NAIA All-American while graduating with a degree in business administration.

very attentive to each kid and offered good feedback

7/15/2016 - I thought my kids' tennis abilities improved by taking part in this camp. They enjoyed it overall. Jimmy was great. He was very attentive to each kid and offered good feedback to us as parents and skills-wise. They did a good job teaching my kids new things and helping them improve.

Director & coaches were outstanding

7/10/2015 - Director & coaches were outstanding and the format and venue were good. The only reason it isn't something we would do again is that my son, at just-turned-16, was the oldest. However, the coaches were awesome at customizing some activities to be sure he got challenged while he was at camp. That was very appreciated.
