Nike Tennis Camps is proud to offer our 1st year of summer camp at The Woodlands! This master-planned community is an idyllic site for improving tennis skills and making new friends. Campers will work hard and have a lot of fun!
Our camps combine technical tennis instruction and drilling from a top notch coaching staff, supervised match play, and a variety of fun activities. Our goal is to give players the opportunity to hit thousands of balls, improve their technique, and be challenged by some of the best players in their peer group. Come join the fun this summer and get better at one of our newest locations!

The Facility includes 8 courts with men's and women's changing areas and bathrooms, and newly renovated viewing areas.
Meet your coaching staffJason Haynes
Jason Haynes has been in College Tennis for the last 20 years. He has been associated with the tennis programs at Tyler Junior College, Texas State University, and Lee College. He has also spent time at Stanford University helping them with their Nationally Ranked Junior Nike Tennis Camps. Mr. Haynes has successfully run collegiate level tennis camps for the last 11 years at Lee College and Nike Tennis camps at Tyler Junior College, and will begin a Nike Tennis Camp in The Woodlands this summer.
He has been associated with 11 National Championships at the College level. He has coached over 60 All American Tennis Players. He has coached players that have played on the ITF, ATP and WTA tours. He has been named the Wilson/ITA National Junior College Coach of the year twice, first in 2002 and again in 2010. He was the Texas Tennis Coaches Association Collegiate Coach of the Year in 2002. He was elected to the NJCAA Tennis Coaches Hall of Fame in 2009.
His teams have always been on the cutting edge of tennis learning. Always looking for that Eureka moment, Jason researched and trained his athletes in the latest, most productive manners. Haynes is, has been, and will be a student of the game. He is always willing to learn new methods of teach technique, and training a tennis athlete physically, and mentally and emotionally.
He is currently working for FM Tennis Academy as a Head Instructor in The Woodlands, TX. Jason is the Chief Operating Officer for UR10s at www.Ur10s.com.
He is a partner in www.rocksolidtennis.com and www.int-tennis-recruiting.com with Eric Arrington, head coach at Eastern Arizona College. Jason also co-hosts a weekly UR10s Internet radio show on www.blogtalkradio.com entitled Diversity in College Tennis.
Henry Garza
Joining the Nike tennis Camp in the Woodlands for his first year will be Henry Garza. Garza is the coach of the boys and girls teams at College Park High School. Henry has enjoyed a lot of success in the Texas UIL 5A division. Among many of his accolades are that he helped College Park reach the playoffs in the schools second year. He has also won the district three years in a row from 2007-2009. Reached UIL 5A Team Regional finals three years in a row. (2008-2010). His teams have been ranked within the top 10 four years in a row (2007-2010). In individual tennis program in the Spring has brought home 13 District Champions. His has qualified 47 players for the Regional Tournament and qualified 11 players for the State Tournament. He has coached State Champions in Spring tennis – 2008 5-A Girls Singles, 2011 5-A Boys Doubles and State Finals 2010 5-A Boys Doubles. He is also a lead instructor at FM Tennis Academy.
Staff
Steve Wetzel
Steve has over twenty five years experience training and implementing athletic development programs for recreational, scholastic, collegiate, and professional athletes. He spent seventeen seasons with the National Football League as a Strength and Conditioning Coach and has been associated with teams that have made the playoffs ten times, including a Super Bowl Championship. Since leaving the NFL, he has trained many local scholastic and collegiate athletes, competitive adults, and individuals looking to improve fitness levels and body composition. Steve’s unique approach combined with advanced training methods emphasizes injury prevention and allows for enhancement of athletic skills.
Program
This year we are offering two weeks of Day (8:00am-1:00pm) camp for kids ages 6-18 of all skill levels. In addition, we are also offering one week of High Schiool Training camp for kids ages 12-18. The high school session runs daily from 8:00am-1:00pm and from 5:00pm-8:00pm and is geared towards players currently on their high school team and wanting to move up the ladder or those planning on making the high school team.
Upon arrival, all participants are evaluated by the staff so that their own instructional needs can be addressed throughout the week.
All Skills Camp: (ages 6-18)
2012 Dates: June 4-8 and June 11-15
• Check-in: Monday at 7:45am
• Campers should come dressed to play as we will head straight to the courts after check-in.
• Check-out: Friday at 1:00pm
• Daily Program: 8:00am-1:00pm
• Lunch: Campers bring their own lunch each day. Lunch orders will be available each day.
High School Training Camp: (ages 12-18)
2012 Dates: July 23-27
• Check-in: Monday at 7:45 am
• Campers should come dressed to play as we will head straight to the courts after check-in.
• Check-out: Friday at 8:00pm
• Daily Program: 8:00am-1:00pm & 5:00pm-8:00pm
• Meals: Campers bring their own lunch and dinner. Lunch orders will be available each day.
• Note: Campers depart after morning session at 1:00pm and return at 4:45pm for the afternoon session.
Travel
Nike Tennis Camp does not provide any transportation to/from camp from airport, train stations or bus depots.
Registration Packet
A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact info, and a list of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers in the Spring. Our health and release forms do not require a doctor's signature and they will be collected on the first day of camp.
