The coaching staff at Amherst College is excited to announce our new Nike Cross Country Elite ID Camp. This will be an action-packed day of training, fundamentals, and lasting friendships this summer. Campers’ opportunities to improve their fitness and skill set will be emphasized by top-notch coaching from Hannah Chappell-Dick and her coaching staff.
The Nike Cross Country Elite ID Camp at Amherst College offers athletes aged 13-17 the opportunity to learn and develop as a more competitive athlete, with an emphasis on sustainable, long-term development. Athletes will get expert coaching during a morning workout session, followed by classroom time to learn about ancillary training like pre-hab and lifting, several aspects of sports performance, and college recruiting. The sessions will be fully customizable based on training age, volume, and ability.

Coach Matt Dsida
Matt Dsida joined the Amherst College cross country coaching staff in September of 2024. Dsida spent 4 years as the Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at Rhodes College. Over his previous four seasons, Dsida served as the cross country and track and field distance assistant and recruiting coordinator. During his time at Rhodes, the Lynx claimed three SAA Conference Championships.

MPAS, PA-C Jenna Gigliotti
Jenna is board certified physician assistant, coach, educator, advocate, and elite runner. She has first hand experience struggling with bone stress injuries, an eating disorder, hypothalamic amenorrhea, low bone density, and perfectionism. She also has several years of experience coaching high school xc & track and health coaching. Jenna recently founded FemDialed, an organization dedicated to helping female athletes dial in their fueling, training, mindset, and recovery in the pursuit of peak athletic performance and optimal health. She is dedicated to helping prevent female athletes from suffering the same issues she faced. Jenna also loves dogs, growing veggies, thrifting, and 80s music.

- Dates: Sunday, August 17, 2025
- Age Group: 13-17

- Schedule: 9:00am-3:00pm
- Check-in: 15 minutes prior to camp start time at the Conway Fieldhouse
- Lunch: Campers should bring their own lunch and snacks

8:30 AM - Registration Begins at Conway Fieldhouse (near the track / football stadium)
9:00 AM - Camp Begins - Huddle
9:15 AM - Warm-Up Exercises
9:30 AM - Interval Workout (Customizable by speed, distance (3-12+ miles), and training age - options available for mid-d athletes and new runners)
11:00 AM - Outdoor Lift Clinic (Body Weight Exercises)
11:30 AM - Lunch - Sandwiches Provided (please bring your own if you have any dietary needs)
12:15 PM - Classroom Session I - Sports Nutrition with Coach Jenna Gigliotti
1:00 PM - Pre-Hab Clinic (Indoors) with Coach Matt Dsida
1:45 PM - Classroom Session II - Sports Performance with Coach CD
2:15 PM - Classroom Session III - College Recruiting Panel
3:00 PM - Optional: Amherst Campus Tour

- Equipment needed: Campers should bring at least two pairs of broken in running shoes. Please be sure to properly mark your equipment, so that it can be easily identified.

CHECKLIST OF THINGS TO BRING:
Below is a suggested list of clothes, equipment and personal items. US Sports Camps is NOT responsible for lost or stolen articles or money.
ALL CAMPERS:
- Extra Athletic clothing
- 1-2 pairs of broken in running shoes
- Non-running shoes
- Water bottle
- Sunblock
- Small gym bag/backpack
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is not provided. Campers are responsible for getting to and from camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours so please make arrangements to pick up your child on time.
MEDICAL PROTOCOL
Most camps have an athletic trainer on-site to help with illness or injury. In case of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.
BEHAVIOR POLICIES
We may ask campers who require 1×1 supervision, disrupt the camp experience, or threaten the safety of themselves or others to leave camp. Behaviors meriting expulsion include, but are not limited to: a cause or threat of violence, putting themselves or others in danger, possession of a weapon, possession or use of alcohol, tobacco, nicotine, drugs or illegal substance, robbery, damage to property, sexual misconduct or assault, harassment, hazing, racist remarks or acts, or intimidation. In those cases, we will contact a parent to pick up the child immediately. We do not issue refunds to campers who are asked to leave camp.

Does the Health & Release Form need to be signed by a doctor?
The following documents are required by the state of Massachusetts and must be completed in the CUSTOMER PORTAL before the first day of camp.
Physical Exam: A physical exam performed within the last 18 months that is signed by your camper's physician is required to be uploaded in the portal.
Immunization Certificate: Immunization records must be submitted in the form of an “Immunization Certificate." This can be provided by your camper's physician. This must be uploaded in the portal. Per Massachusetts Board of Health guidelines, all campers must meet the requirements outlined in the Massachusetts List of Required Vaccinations. This form does include a doctor's signature. Campers can complete the MA-specific health forms after adding their campers under their profile in the customer portal.
Our additional Health & Release Form does not require a doctor’s signature. This form is required to be filled out accurately, signed by the parent (guardian), and submitted in our Customer Portal before camp check-in.
Can I come to camp alone or do I have to be a member of a team?
We welcome individual campers and teams. It's a great place to meet new friends who share your enthusiasm for the sport and to have FUN!
Are the campers supervised throughout the camp?
Yes, campers are supervised by the coaches and staff. All staff members complete criminal and sex offender background checks before working the camp.
