The Hounds went 6-7 last season, with three losses to ranked teams decided by two or fewer goals, despite having just two seniors on the roster. Assumption concluded the year on an impressive note, earning a 15-14 win over No. 18 Southern New Hampshire. The team finished the year ranked fourth in the NEILA Division II Poll. Brett Jennings was named to the NE10 All-Rookie Team while Travis Reid and Colby Hamwey earned NEILA All-New England honors.
In 2016, Assumption went 3-11 overall mark in conference play. Four of the team's losses were decided by just three or less goals. Senior captain Connor Munisteri was named NEILA All-New England in the midfield for his play.
In 2015, the team put together one of the most successful seasons in program history as the team tied the program record for wins in a season, earned the No. 5 seed in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament and achieved the best in-conference record in the history of the program. Four players were named to the All-New England Team, while two were recognized as All-New England academic honorees.
Loftis came to Assumption from Wheaton College (Mass.), where as an assistant coach he was the defensive coordinator and goalie coach. He was a part of the most successful season in the history of the program and mentored the 2012 Pilgrim League Goalie of the Year.
Prior to Wheaton, Loftis was an assistant coach at Division I Providence College, leading the defensive unit and serving as recruiting coordinator for 12 seasons. During his time at Providence, the program made three appearances in the Division I NCAA Tournament (2004, 2006, 2007), while also winning three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) tournament titles and four regular-season championships. He coached five MAAC Defensive Players of the Year and one United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American defenseman.
Loftis began his collegiate coaching career at Cobleskill State University (N.Y.), where he was the program's head coach for the 1998 and 1999 seasons.
As a player, Loftis was named to the Junior College All-Region III Team twice and was also selected to participate in the 1995 Junior College North-South All Star Game.
A native of Whitesboro, N.Y., Loftis earned his Associates degree in Liberal Arts at Morrisville State in 1995, his Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at Potsdam State in 1997 and his Master's degree in education/counseling from Providence in 2001.
