Camp Director Drew Bowers

Bowers comes back to Salem from Kenyon College where he was an assistant coach for the Lords for three seasons. His duties included serving as the defensive coordinator, goalie coach and strength and conditioning coach while overseeing the recruiting operations of the program.
In 2016, he helped tutor goalie Patrick Shevelson to earning North Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and All-American accolades while also helping guide the team to an 11-win season.
In all, Bowers helped mentor six different players to all-conference honors which included a goalkeeper making the all-league league squad each year he was there.
Before Kenyon he spent two seasons at the helm of nearby Salem High School Boys team. Bowers, ran all aspects of the program, on both sides of the ball, and guided his 2013 squad to a No. 3 state ranking.
Bowers played goalie for Roanoke from 2004-2008. During his time in Salem, he helped the Maroons appear in two national semifinal games and three Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) title games, winning two of them.
He received his bachelor's degree in exercise science from Roanoke in 2008 and became SCCC (strength and conditioning coach certified) through the CSCCa (Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association) in 2009.
Bowers was the head strength and conditioning coach at Kenyon and utilized his certification to serve as the strength and conditioning coach for several professional and collegiate programs in Vancouver, BC, Canada and Virginia, coaching NHL, MLS, CFL, and NFL athletes.
Bowers earned his master's degree in education, with an emphasis on positive coaching in the field of sports psychology from the University of Missouri during the spring of 2016.
This summer the University of Dallas is offering one sessions of overnight with a commuter (Extended Day Camp 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM) option available.

Every aspect of defensive play is covered, including, footwork, clearing for defenseman, crease defense, zones, slide packages, man down defense and much more! Instructional talks from top college defenseman and coaches as well as competitive "defensive games" make for a fun and educational week.

A detailed camper registration packet containing check-in location, health/release forms, emergency contact info, and a list of things to bring will be emailed to all registered campers prior to camp. Our health and release forms do not require a doctor's signature and they will be collected on the first day of camp.
CHECK-IN: Check-in takes place between 12:00-2:00pm on Monday, June 4th at Gregory Hall.
CHECK-OUT: Check-out takes place between 3:00pm on Thursday, June 7th.
Housing & Roommates
2 campers per room. If you have a roommate request, and have not already given it to us, please do so as soon as possible. If you don't have a roommate request, you will be placed in a room with someone near your age. It will be a great opportunity to meet someone new!

The staff reside in the dormitories with the campers and participate in all activities. Drugs, alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited, and constitute, along with general misconduct, grounds for dismissal from camp without a refund.
EXTENDED DAY CAMPERS
On the first day of camp, all extended day campers should arrive between 1:00-2:00pm for check in. On all other days, the arrival time is 8:45am at the Dorm for attendance. Departure on other days is 9:00pm and campers can be picked up at the field.
- Monday: Commuter Campers stay until 8:30pm. Dinner is provided.
- Tuesday: Commuter Camper Hours - 9:00am-8:30pm. Lunch and dinner provided.
- Wednesday: Commuter Camper Hours - 9:00-3:00pm. Check-out is immediately after camp concludes with the closing ceremony.
- Daily Schedule: MON 2PM-8PM, TUE-WED 9AM-8PM, THUR 9AM-12PM
Team Discount: If five or more campers register together, each camper is eligible for a $25 discount. Please have a team contact reach out directly to the USSC office at 1-800-645-3226 to receive a discount code to identify your group. Campers may then register through the website at their convenience and apply the coupon code during check-out.
Goalie Discount: To ensure each session has enough goalies for drills and scrimmages, all goalies automatically qualify for a special $50 discount. You can call 1-800-645-3226 to receive the goalie discount over the phone or you can indicate that you are eligible for the goalie discount in the “comments” field when registering via our secure website. Goalie discount cannot be combined with any other discount.
