at Nike Rugby Camps
Rugby athletes are invited to join our youth rugby camp in Michigan hosted at University of Michigan and directed by University of Notre Dame Head Coach, Justin Hickey, and Life University Head Coach, Scott Lawrence.
High School Camp
The Nike Rugby Camp at University of Michigan offers a three-day, two-night camp experience directed by a nationally recognized staff. Athletes, ages 14-18, participate in high-level training on and off the pitch each day. The overnight camp includes key fundamental drills, high performance education modules, competitive match play, meals, housing and evening group activities. Whether you're new to the sport or looking to advance your existing skill set, this program can provide the tools to improve your abilities on the rugby pitch.
A commuter option is available for local rugby athletes. Each day runs from 9:00am - 5:00pm (times may vary on first and last day) and includes all rugby activities and lunch.

Co-Director Scott Lawrence
Scott Lawrence serves as Assistant Coach of the USA Men's National Team and is in his 16th year on the Life University Coaching Staff.View Scott Lawrence's Bio ⟩
Coach Lawrence has filled the head coaching roles for the USA High School All-American team and the USA U20 Junior All-Americans. He led a staff (alongside Justin Hickey) to capture the IRB Junior World Trophy in 2012. Coach Lawrence remains a resource coach and selector for the U20 program and an avid contributor to USA age grade rugby.
Prior to beginning his coaching career Coach Lawrence captained two National Championship teams and was capped as a USA National Team player on the 15s and 7s team.
Co-Director Justin Hickey
Coach Hickey is in his third year as head coach for University of Notre Dame Rugby after serving five years as head coach of the successful Clemson Tiger Rugby Program.View Justin Hickey's Bio ⟩
Hickey was recently named assistant coach for the USA Rugby Collegiate All-Americans in 2015. Previously, he worked for two years as manager for the USA Rugby U20 Junior All American Team that competed in the IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy in T'Bilisi, Georgia in 2011, and won the competition in Salt Lake City, UT in June 2012, earning the USA promotion to the IRB Junior World Championship competition in 2013.
Coach Hickey began his coaching career where his playing career started, as assistant coach at Catholic Central High School, in Grand Rapids, MI. Hickey helped start the Davenport University Varsity Rugby team in Grand Rapids, in 2009, which went on to win the 2011 & 2012 USA Rugby Division 1AA National Championship. Coach Hickey served as assistant coach/manager for the USA Rugby High School All American 7s Team, which toured to British Columbia in 2011, as well as serving as manager of the USA Rugby High School All Americans from 2009-2010.

Coach Zach began his coaching career in 2014 with the University of Michigan Men’s 15s program and has continued with the 7s program this spring. As a player, Zach has been blessed to start for the Life University D1 National Championship teams of 2013 and 2014 while completing his Doctorate of Chiropractic. He has also competed for three 7’s National Championships with 1823 (Scioto Valley) and the Chicago Griffins. His career took a definitive turn when he was asked to play for the Gunghalin Eagles (Australia) at the age of 20. Zach has represented the Midwest Men’s and Midwest Collegiate teams over 10 times and has also played for the South Men’s team in their NACRA championship run. Zach has an extensive background in strength and conditioning coaching, biomechanics, injury prevention strategies and structural correction.
Nike Rugby Camps provide a high level training environment for young rugby athletes, based on focus, commitment, passion, work ethic, skill, and enjoyment. Players receive specialized coaching geared toward developing improved individual and team skills. The overnight camp includes key fundamental drills, educational seminars, team strategies, match play, film analysis, meals, housing, and group activities. Campers stay in dorms on campus as well as eating in campus dining halls. Day campers participate in all rugby activities and lunch is included each day (schedule for first and last day of camp is outlined in registration packet).
CHECK-IN AND CHECK-OUT

Early arrivals are responsible for own accommodations as dormitory accommodation is not available the night before camp starts.
Overnight campers: we are offering a $30 per player discount for five or more team members from the same team/club. Please call 800-645-3226 and register by phone to receive the discount.
The staff will reside in the residence halls with the campers and participate in evening activities. Supervision will be maintained at an 8:1 staff to camper ratio at all times. Campus rules and regulations will be strictly enforced at all times.
Campers are responsible for travel to and from camp.
A detailed camper registration packet containing check in location, health/release forms, emergency contact info, and a checklist of what to bring will be emailed to all registered campers prior to arrival at camp.

University of Michigan
