The 2019 Nike Track & Field Camp at Smith College offers training in all events in Northampton, MA. Learn from the elite coaching staff and develop into a better athlete. Smith Head Coach Adrien Ricci leads campers through an educational week, complete with lectures and training in your events of choice. Daily practice includes drills and technique. Head Coach Adrien Ricci
Adrien Ricci enters her second season as the Smith College head track & field coach. Since 2009 Ricci has served as the Director of Boys and Girls Cross Country and Track & Field programs at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, N.Y.View Adrien's Bio ⟩
During her time at Poly Prep, Ricci was responsible for the planning, developing, and coaching of a three season, 12-team upper and middle school program with over 210 competitive student-athletes. She implemented a comprehensive recruiting plan for prospective student-athletes in addition to teaching physical education in grades 5-8. From 2007 to 2009, Ricci spent two years as an assistant coach for the cross country and track & field teams at Lewis University. During the 2008 season, she coached 18 individual points scorers and nine individual champions or runners-up at the conference championships. As a member of the Flyers coaching staff, Ricci designed, coordinated, implemented, and administered all aspects of the distance program as well as recruited all men and women cross country, middle distance, and long distance athletes. While under head coach Ellen O'Neil's guidance at Smith from 2005 to 2007, Ricci assisted in all aspects of the cross country and track programs, helping to coach seven distance athletes to all-conference status, including one who was a two-time national qualifier in cross country and once in the 3000-meter steeplechase in outdoor track. Eleven athletes earned academic all-conference with Ricci as an assistant coach.
From 2003 to 2006 Ricci served as the Elmhurst College athletic liaison between the admission and athletic departments. An NCAA Division III All-American in cross country, Ricci was a four-year varsity letter winner of both Elmhurst College's cross country and track and field teams. She competed at both the Drake and Penn Relays, was a 13-time College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin All-Conference honoree, a seven-time Division III national qualifier, a two-time cross country Midwest All-Region honoree, and six-time Academic All-American. Ricci holds the Elmhurst school record for the 10,000-meter run and was a member of the school's record-setting 4x mile relay team.
Campers can choose from all disciplines (except pole vault). Offered events: throws (shot put, hammer, discus, javelin), sprints, hurdles, middle distance (including steeplechase), distance (800m up to the 2 mile), and jumps (high jump, long jump, triple jump).
Pole Vault: Those interested in pole vault can arrange for some breakout training during the week. We will not focus on vaults but will offer some sessions on it. You must bring your own pole to camp, for liability reasons. Let us know ahead if you are so interested.
Each camper should wear comfortable work-out clothing for each camp session. Additionally, campers should bring their own event shoes or spikes. Please be sure to properly mark your equipment, so they easily identified.Show Less See More Camp Details

There will be a break-out sessions to learn about pole vault, but campers are not be able to primarily focus on vaults throughout the week. Campers who wish to participate in the pole vault session must bring their own pole.

Located on 147 beautiful acres in Northampton, MA, the Smith College program offers college level instruction for both track & field and cross country runners. Campers stay in the dorms on campus and eat in the school's dining hall.
Camp Questions & Answers
What events are offered at the Smith College Track & Field Camp?

Can I come to camp alone or do I have to be a member of a team?
We welcome individual campers and teams. If you come to camp by yourself, we place you in a dorm room with another single camper, similar in age. It's a great place to meet new friends who share your enthusiasm for the sport and to have FUN!
What happens if it starts to rain during camp?
All campers receive their full running program each day weather permitting. In the threat of severe weather, we will adjust our schedule for the outdoor training.
How many campers are placed in a dorm room and do you accommodate roommate requests?
Campers are place two per room. When you register for the camp, you have an option to submit a roommate request. If you would like to add a roommate request after registering for a camp, please feel free to give us a call or send us an email. We accommodate all roommate requests, made before 2 weeks before the start of camp. Campers who do not submit a roommate request will be placed in a dorm with other runners, similar age and same gender.
Are the campers supervised throughout the camp?
Yes, campers are supervised by the coaches and staff. Staff members reside in the same dorms as the campers and provide supervision during instruction, dining times, evening activities, and in the dorm. All staff members complete criminal and sex offender background checks before working the camp.
Can you accommodate special dietary needs?
Campers dine in the school cafeteria which offers a variety of different meal options that are sure to accommodate most campers’ dietary needs. In the case that a camper possesses extreme dietary restrictions, please reach out to school’s Dining Services to make the proper accommodations.
How and when will I receive my Registration packet with important camp details?
Well before the start of your camp (at least 3 weeks), you will receive a Registration Packet which will include all the important details about camp: directions to camp, when to arrive, what to pack/ bring, camp address (for mail) and key camp phone numbers and the Medical/ Release form, etc.
Does the Health & Release Form need to be signed by a doctor?
Our Health & Release Form does require a doctor’s signature. This form is required to be filled out accurately, signed by the parent (guardian), and brought with you to the first day of camp.
What is the cancellation policy?
Hopefully, you will not have to cancel, but if you must, please do so early so that those on the waiting list can be notified.
For those who have Cancellation Protection: Cancellation Protection entitles you to a full refund of camp fees (deposit or full payment) if you cancel for any reason before June 1st. Please note: $50 Cancellation Protection fee is non-refundable. If you cancel after June 1st, 2019, we will issue you a camp voucher for all camp fees paid, valid through 2020. Your camp voucher is transferable to family and may be used for any Nike Running Camp. For those who do not have Cancellation Protection: If you have to cancel, for any reason, we will issue you a Nike Running Camp voucher for all camp fees paid, valid through 2020. Your camp voucher is transferable to a family member and may be used for any Nike Running Camps. Cash refunds will be given only with the purchase of Cancellation Protection and who cancel on time.
