The UC Berkeley Winter Camps provide an excellent opportunity showcase your skills in a competitive environment! Our Cal Soccer coaching staff lead sessions that we would run for our current players and team.
The Cal Winter Camps will be two day sessions, directed by Cal Assistant Soccer Coach, Jake Wilson, with coaching by Cal alum and players to make this a training experience not to be missed! The Cal Men's Soccer Staff are joined by local collegiate coaches providing maximum exposure for high school players!
Per NCAA rules, Cal Soccer Academy & Camps are open to any and all entrants. Enrollment in our camps is limited only by age, gender, and capacity restrictions as specified by each camp.

Coach Jacob Wilson

Jake has played in all levels of soccer: Recreational, competitive club, high school, Division 1 college--Cal, semi-pro--PDL and NPSL, and professionally) He has a great understanding of what it means to be successful in the soccer world. He is passionate about raising the level of soccer in the bay area and around the US, and that starts with the youth and getting involved in the community. He is coaching a U11 boys team at Lamorinda Soccer Club as well as being the Head Assistant Coach at Cal.

Volunteer Coach Stefan Clemens
Heading into the 2017 season, the Golden Bears welcomed volunteer coach Stefan Clemens to the staff.View Stefan's Bio ⟩
Clemens, most recently the assistant coach for men’s soccer programs at Las Positas Junior College (2016-17) and at Cal State, East Bay (2015-16), adds value as a former professional and collegiate player.
Before entering the collegiate coaching ranks, Clemens headed competitive youth soccer squads Lamorinda United in Lafayette, Calif., and Ballistic United in Pleasanton, Calif., from 2009-2016. He also participated in Barcelona FC Coaching Tour (Barcelona, Spain) in 2009 and Manchester United Coaching Tour (Manchester, England) in 2014, where coaches were invited to observe and learn from top European football clubs.
With his time as a player on the pitch, Clemens brings additional depth to the credentialed men’s soccer staff. After his collegiate playing career with the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs, where he appeared in the 2004 NCAA Division III National Championship, Clemens spent three years as a player on the professional circuit.
He played a pair of seasons with Navua FC in Navua, Fiji (2009 and 2010) before a one-year stint with the professional indoor soccer team Bay Area Rosal in Livermore, Calif.
Clemens graduated from UCSC in 2008 with a Bachelor’s in Global Economics.
Goalkeeper Coach Alex Mangels
Alex Mangels is a Bay Area native who played at UC Berkeley starting in 2011.View Alex's Bio ⟩
Growing up in the Bay Area, Alex played soccer for as long as he can remember. He played in college at Cal from 2011-2015, and was fortunate enough to continue his career at the professional level. In the 2016 season, he played for the Tulsa Roughnecks in the USL, and most recently with the San Francisco Deltas for the 2017 NASL season, when they won the championship. Alex is passionate about the game, and loves to share his experience with young goalkeepers to help them develop their own skill set.
Cal Winter Clinics consists of two, two-day ID Camps for ages 14-18. All campers will be grouped by age and skill level.
Cal coaching staff lead training sessions in Memorial Stadium. Physically, technically, tactically, and emotionally demanding training sessions. Training in the Cal Soccer environment with the our coaching staff will give players an insight into what we look for in a player and how we develop our athletes here. We believe that our philosophy, how we train, and our demanding environment set us apart from other programs in college soccer. Our training sessions are full of enjoyment, learning, and competition that will have the players wanting more afterwards. There is nothing greater than the enjoyment and passion for the game.
The training schedule consists of three technical and tactical training sessions:
- Day 1, Session 1: 9-11 am
- Day 1, Session 2: 1 pm-3 pm
*11 am - 1 pm is a lunch break. Players have the option to bring lunch and eat on campus, or go off campus with their parents.
- Day 2, Session 1: 9-11 am
We will have a Q and A for the players regarding college soccer, the expectations, recruiting process, etc. Bring your questions!

Times: 9am-3pm Saturdays, 9-11am Sundays
